Cool! Do you have a waist-level finder to go with?

Steve
Not yet. Hope I can find one for less than what a Nikon waist-level finder goes for…

Of the lenses I got basically for free over a year ago and had never sent to clean, I kept 3 and sent them to Eric Hendrickson. Just got them back yesterday:

K 50 1.2
M 100 2.8
M 150 3.5

The M 150 3.5 in particular was not in good shape, so much fungus I couldn't shoot with it. But now I can tell it's a pretty sharp lens even wide open, despite reports to the contrary! At least my copy is, so I'm glad I got it cleaned. Last year I had already agreed to give it basically for free to a forum member (it was for 15 dollars if I recall) but because of Covid the other person backed out... now I'm glad he did

The K 50 1.2 and M 100 2.8 were known quantities, I have been using them as the bit of fungus they had, did not affect the images, or so it seemed. Let's see if I can tell a difference.

For my standards I paid quite a bit of money for this cleaning (210 dollars plus shipping both ways- more than I paid for either one of my SMC Limiteds!), but I think these particular lenses are worth it.

Thanks to @MightyMike

Nice. I've been looking for a properly working one for quite some time but Miranda cameras that have come through my hands all seem to have at least one thing wrong with them.

Would this one work?:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/MIRANDA-VF-1-WAIST-LEVEL-VIEWFINDER-with-MAGNIFIER-GENUINE-MIRANDA-BRAND-/373104502013?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10

Seller has had this one listed forever, so a reasonable might be accepted...

Yeah, I know; I remember them well.
But if it works and you can get it at a good price why not?
And just how many others have you come across?

KX 55/1.8 SMC K 35-80/4~5.6A $85 all in on Mercari. Everything is clean and working.

Can someone explain why a Hong Kong made K-1000 with 50/2 M sold for $179 and the KX I scored was up for over a month with the buyer accepting my $70 plus tax and shipping offer?

Imperfect or inefficient market.

$109 cash-back for taking the A35-80/4-5.6 off his hands?

Seriously, that's a great deal for $70. The KX looks lovely

Young hipster nouveau film photographers have heard of the "legendary" Pentax K1000.
They are probably not aware that it's mostly because it was the cheapest new SLR Photo 101 classes could use.

Meter movements for the K1000 are still available. Not so those for the KX.

That said I prefer the KX; I currently own three of them all serviced by Eric.

Every time I see a KX, or a Spotmatic like the one I had, or a K 1000, or an ME Super, or even an LX like the one I had, I get briefly nostalgic for an owner's manual that can be read through, understood and remembered in its entirety in less than 30 minutes. (maybe 40 minutes for the LX manual)

set of Magnepan speakers. Picked up a used set a few weeks ago but they didn't sound quite right (after trying different amps & components) so I returned them. Dealer confirmed something was off with them and offered me their demo models for about the same price of the used ones. Couldn't pass that up as there's a 12-16 week wait for a new set of Maggies.

I once bought a Pentax PZ-1P (aka Z-1P) body.
The instruction manual is well over 100 pages.
I never loaded film in it and sold it immediately.

Chris, I never understood why the MX was more popular than the KX. Little light bulb metering just isn't my thing, I guess.

After quite a few years of prevarication, I finally buckled. New K1 ii is now in my hands. Looking forward now to some serious experimentation.

Remarkably, I had the opportunity today to actually see a K3 iii in the flesh. In a real camera store (Great Western Cameras, Swindon, Wiltshire). It is very nice and very tempting, but as a happy K3 and KP owner it ultimately just did not make sense as an addition or upgrade to my stable for my preferred subjects and methods.
