Nothing wrong with a ‘weathered’ lens if the glass is sound!

A D-BG6 and extra battery for my K-1, it was getting cross having to look up at the K-3III . Alongside the grip, I picked up the Rapid battery charger and a soft Pentax lens bag for my FA50/2.8 Macro.
Grip arrived yesterday from Italy with a genuine Pentax battery dated 20 something, nice silver box. K-1 now looks a reasonably fearsome proposition with the DFA*70-200 mounted. This morning a little box arrived from Germany with the express charger and soft bag for my FA50 Macro, again in individual silver Ricoh boxes. I charged up 4 batteries in about 4hrs so it does the express thing and acts as a useful fast charger for my mobile.
Digging out the batteries meant taking grips off and I noticed that I had an unused spot for cards in both grips so off to Amazon and picked up a Transcend SDXC 700S (Class 10, U3, V90 II) 64GB card for the K-3III to match the other 2 I have and a couple of fresh SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB (170MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30I) for the K-1. As I was there I picked up a Zeiss cleaning bundle (cleaning fluid, tissues, brush, lens pen and a puffer).
So an interesting month, a lens, a flash, a grip, fast charger, lens bag, some storage and cleaning consumables. The charger and bag came free of charge from Ricoh due to loyalty points, Transcend card was €37, Zeiss cleaning bundle about €30, grip & battery was €175, lens and flash was €275 + an hours driving so not a bad haul for the hobby.

Supermicro 16-Pin Front Control Panel Split / Extension Cable (CBL-0084L). Why? Because they make this cute little 4 bay (hot swap SAS/SATA) chassis which would make a great little NAS. Add an Asus mini-ITX board with on-board SAS controller and 10Gbps NIC. Oh, the Supoermicro connector for the front panel is proprietary for Supermicro mini-ITX boards. For a week I've had 2 wires hanging out the back of the chassis so I can short them to power on/off the box. Now I can use an actual power switch which will be nice.

Also just ordered 4 x 14TB Seagate Exos drives to fill the box. Currently have a random assortment of 2TB drives to confirm everything works with TrueNAS Core. Was planning 4 x 10TB drives but Amazon has an oddly low price on the 14TB drives. $257 on Amazon but $520 at Adorama for the same drive.

picked up a Samsung 28" 4k monitor. Also took the liberty of returning my work area to a semi-functional state.

.A Vivitar flash meter, mint condition. It looks almost identical to the Shepherd flash meters I've seen on the internet. Bought as part of a job lot so this cost me about £5.

I have already used it to measure the Guide Numbers of a couple of old flash units I have : a Pentax AF280T is about 20m instead of the the 28 it is supposed to be, a whole stop!, and a Sunpak G4500DX is 40 rather than 45 - not so bad.

.

I decided to take a gamble on this DA XS 40/2.8 from a seller on Amazon. I want to pair it with a *1st DS as a coat pocket outfit.

Got my SF7, F 50/1.7 & F 35-70 package, all looks good. Need to find a battery for the SF7 to check it's working and I should run a roll through it before I move it on.

The F 50/1.7 feels much more solid than the FA version. It feels like plastic over a metal chassis whereas the FA just feels like cheap plastic. AF isn't as noisy as I'd heard, I'd say it's pretty much normal for a screwdrive lens.

There's no lens on your camera!

Yup, I picked up the "there's no lens there" lens - the Pentax-DA 40mm F2.8 XS. After 45 years of shooting with a hand under the lens, now there's no lens to speak of there ...

Vivitar 24CdS shoe-mount exposure meter
Vivitar 2500 electronic flash

$15 shipped on eBay

The light meter is described as NIB.
Clean and working will be good enough.
I have used this model in the past and like it very much.

I wasn't real interested in the flash as I seldom use them.
Maybe my daughter will want it for use with her Pentax MX.

The Viv 2500 is a rather nice light/compact auto-thyristor flash with basic zoom function, bounce, and support for AC or battery pack power. Based on its similarity to my Vivitar 3500, I also suspect that it may share the 3500's safe trigger voltage. If so, double cool!

A Super-Takumar 55/1.8 in very good shape. Some fungus that will be easy to clean, and no scratches at all. It came with a Spotmatic as a back lens cover and the corresponding leather case for the camera. The camera is a Honeywell Pentax one with early serial number (1476743) but with a late part number (23102). Go figure...
The camera is in reasonably good shape so it will be subject to CLA and probably will be responsible for me going back to film from time to time.
The only con: this poor guys used to live in a smoking allowed and abused home, so they smell badly. The camera and lens will be cleansed but I doubt much that the smell will ever go away from the leather case.

A bit of ozone might clear the smell? Or replacement leather?
