Bought an FA 28-80 to go with my then MZ5n - pretty much THE worst (soft, etc.) lens I have ever had the misfortune to own and I had trouble even almost giving it away!!!

I haven’t tried it yet but I’ll let you know how it works out.

All FA 28-80 lenses (there's three not counting FA J) seem to )be disliked equally. I think one would be best of with the Pentax-F 28-80mm 1:3.5-4.5. It shares optics (12/9) with the SMC Pentax-A 28-80 (that you don't see very often because Pentax was selling cheaper Takumar/Pentax-A non SMC 28-80's at the same time. The SMC Pentax-A is really a fine lens.

Like someone a couple posts back, the auction bug was crawling around my place the other night. Received today.

It was described as a new never-used Pentax PZ-70 (I highly doubted it) with two lenses also new, one mounted on camera, Pentax A35-80, and the other still in the box, F50 Macro, which is the primary reason I bid. Also what looked to be an original Pentax case and Pentax Cable Switch F, also claimed new. My winning bid for all of it?

$39. Oh, and $15 shipping.

I unpacked the box in the past hour and guess what? Everything is truly new AFAICT, no sign of anything having ever been used. Even the camera strap was still factory-folded. The only indication that someone may have at one time done something with the camera is it had the optional Data Back installed, but maybe you could buy it that way back then? No dust, scratches, mars, discoloration... Spotless and everything appearing new and never used, boxed lens still in plastic and the cable switch still in sealed plastic too. The user manual is crisp and clean, no fading or folds.

I'm good with it.

That's like the urban legend of a car aficionado finding a Porsche Speedster under a tarp in a barn. and the old man saying "My son bought it before he went off to 'nam, but he didn't come back, so he never got to drive it. You can have it for $500." IT'S AN URBAN LEGEND = NEVER HAPPENED.

ROTFL!

Well in this case it's all true. I have batteries coming in today from Amazon so I can see if everything works as it should. I'm so accustomed to my digital Pentax cameras I spent a few minutes looking thru the box and camera case for the charger. Never did find it.

My effort to revive my old K1000 turned out unsatisfactory, but the PZ-70 will hopefully fill my intention of using a film camera as a purely B&W tool.

Well I thought I was bidding on a FA 135/2.8 but it was a FA 100/2.8 Macro. Still pretty cheap though 41 Euro (already corrected for Paypal). I only bid because I thought I would get outbidden, but for the price it is a good deal. It must come from Japan first so at least that amount again after all the handling fees, VAT and shipping.

Irix Blackstone 11 f4 for Pentax. No longer a huge fan of UWA lenses for personal work, but I got this on sale from B&H, a really good deal; usage = when I need to go even wider than the 15-30 on my K1mkII.

Used it on a shoot almost right away: had to take a photo of a hanging tapestry in an embassy, and the site situation only allowed me to be about 2.75-3 meters away from it....and it was a good 5 meters tall. Also did some shots for stitiching, but amazingly the single shot corrected in LR to something pretty doggone acceptable. Might have saved the day.

Picked up a Neewer gimbal, hopefully that’ll push me to use the tripod more!

I had planned to get out today with my K10D and two Tamron Adaptall lenses. I was going mainly for the Ultra Wide Perspective that is taking submissions now with the 17mm adaptall. I was going to Brazos Bend State Park so I included the 200-500 for some wild life photos. Unfortunately I got a 'memory card error' and the K10D is my only Pentax digital camera.
I have ordered new 32GB cards because I have been using 64 GB SD cards for all my digital cameras. I hope that fixes the issue. I have also bought another K10D which should be here by May 24, so I should be able to get the photos I need.

Either a waste of time, or a steal: amz warehouse had a 55-300re/plm for about $200. I'll bite.

It's in Acceptable condition with damaged box and cosmetic marks; I look thru 'em more than at 'em, so if it works then yippee!

Edit/update: A STEAL.
The box is ugly.. I care not.

On top of some protein bars from Amazon, also got a 5-pack of Adorama branded microfiber clothes & a Etonephoto branded film case that can hold either 8 rolls of 120 film, or 10 rolls of 35mm, or a mix of both (four 120/four 35mm)
