Good idea

Ugg, been wanting a second KP body for a while now. A new one just popped up for cheap, and it looks like I’m gonna chicken out. Car repairs trump a second camera body this week. Plus, I’m really looking at the 150-450mm zoom lens - - happy birthday to me????

I recently had a brief run of bad luck which brought about damage to a K10, a K20, and a K5. These events did help bring me back to the forum after being away for sometime. The K5 survived but I did end up buying a used K10 from a member here as well as another K10 and a K20 from KEH.

Nothing very exciting recently - a couple of cheap job lots where most of the lenses have minor faults but are still usable, which I'm gradually selling on. But tonight I won another Pentacon 135/2.8 M42 Bokeh Monster for £16 plus P&P - a bit of a gamble since there wasn't a clear picture of the glass, but from the description it has the usual whitening of the rear element but is otherwise not too bad. Fingers crossed anyway, they're lovely lenses if they aren't damaged.

A couple 90° valve stems and a Pirelli Scorpion Trail II front tire. it recently hit me that the tire came on the bike (2012) and I quickly put on 8,000 miles but life changes and I haven't ridden much for the past several years. With gas over $4/gallon it's time to start taking the bike (60-70mpg) to work instead of the truck (16mpg). Once the rain stops, I need to find some road grooves to test tracking. Rear tire is under 5 years old but I'll get one to match the front if I like the way it handles. Old motorcycle cover had started leaking so I picked up a new one too. And an adjustable clutch lever is on order with a new clutch switch (failed switch prevents starting in gear with the clutch pulled).

Motorcycles and photography are competing hobbies. Except when I can use the bike to get to photography destination.

Pentax with Vivitar 70-210 lens. Also came with a Pentax bellows, 100mm bellows lens and 50mm SMC lens.
I had to fix the "mirror siezed' problem which took about 30 minutes.

I had both the original M42 pre-set and the later K-mount auto-diaphragm, which I believe had the identical optical formula. The M42 version was never as good as my Vivitar Series I 90mm macro, nor did the K-mount version have anything like the IQ of my Tokina 90mm f2.5 macro. HOWEVER, when either bellows lens is reverse mounted on a 200mm f4 SMCA (NOT the macro) the combination makes an outstanding 2X macro with a decent working distance. Reverse mounting on a lens with 100 to 200mm FL is where the bellows lens really delivers the goods.

I recently brought back all the items I bought in the UK since the last time I was over two and a half years ago:

Auto-Revuenon 50mm f/1.7
Sigma EF to L mount adapter
Tamron Adaptall 24mm f/2.5
Tokina 28mm f/2.8 in F mount
Takumar 28mm f/3.5
Soligor "SLR focuser" which is a flip-up magnifier
Auto Super Paragon 35mm f/2.8 in SR mount

The first three of those items have been tried out, the rest not yet. The Auto Revuenon is very good indeed, at least as sharp as the M 50/1.7 and handles very well.

Arrived today - crud in the front element which was very easy to fix, and the rear element is slightly whitened which can't easily be fixed, but otherwise undamaged and working very nicely.

My favorite Pentax strap

Two more used Pentax nylon straps

Narrow black nylon with PENTAX woven in in red;
type included with many later Pentax film bodies.

Chris

I really like the medium format version on smaller cameras.
