Kreg Accu-cut XL

Wish I could have picked up a proper track saw, but couldn't justify the expense. This will have to do.

Cutting up wood sheet goods. Can use it to make panels for paintings, kitchen cabinet doors, & etc. Useful. Got it for $139, so fine. What's nice is that you can use any circular saw (that works with the sled). What's not is dust collection, and that it's a bit less tight on the track than a track saw---dumb on Kreg's part.

Gone ahead and ordered one of the new TTArtisan 25mm f/2’s, as my (very early)* birthday present from my wife. Should be here in around a fortnight. Hopefully will be good fun, initial reviews seem pretty promising!

*my bad for omitting this bit…

I bought, more out of curiosity than out of necessity, an old Tokina 135mm f.2.8 with manual focus. I have not yet had the opportunity to use it, so I do not know seeds will give satisfaction. I also bought this week the Canon RF 16mm f.2.8 STM. I haven't used it yet.

If it's like my copy (MD mount bought in 1983), it will be pretty decent. I tested it last year against a MD 135 f3.5, Pentax K 135 f2.5 and Fujinon 135 f3.5 M42 on my Fuji X-T1. It held its own against the MD. The Fujinon and Pentax were very slightly better.

I've found the Tokina 135/2.8 to be excellent. Not quite to the standard of the K 135/2.5, but very nearly. It's big weakness is purple fringing wide open but that's mostly gone at f/4. Like all Tokinas it only stops down in full-aperture increments.

My latest, today, is a Sandisk 1tb drive from B&H, $140 off, so $116 with the tax. It's one of these: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1595431-REG/sandisk_sdssde61_1t00_g25...981&

I have the 512gb, so I'm set for travel!

Just picked up second hand Baader Maxbright binoviewer for my Newtonian telescope. My pair of Pentax 8.5 mm eyepieces and I are waiting eagerly :-)

I found a nice and cheap, yet very good condition, 28mm f/2.8 to complement the f/2 version I already had. It seems to perform well and is considerably lighter.

I used it to take a photo of my recent film re-stock. I still need to get some colour 135, very difficult to find at the moment.

The insulation used for the wires is made from soy based plastic. All part of the green movement.

I have been fighting a running battle with squirrels eating my 2017 Nissan Frontier for years. This year they got the hose to my windshield squirters and the antenna wire for my radio. in the last monthI have cleaned three nests out and I am even leaving DeCon under the hood. I had to put screening over the air intake because the plastic box that holds the air filter makes a great nest. Then they chew the air filter for fun and bits of paper wind up clogging your mass airflow sensor. For some reason that was not covered under warranty.

I came close to needing a main wiring harness replaced but caught it in time and taped over the damage. One would think that making edible wire harnesses might send up a warning to "the smart people in charge" of the auto companies but they let it pass.

It will only make a change if it is covered by a statutory warranty that puts the cost on them.
