Does anyone know how these new reputation buttons work? will we get a notification that one has been left? will we be able to read the comments people leave with their name or is it secret? just curious and the thread in the news doesn't really have any information so asking people here that may go to others sites that have this function. Curious minds want to know, and is it just me or are there safeguards against abuse of this for personal attacks?

Fwiw... I don't think you get any message telling you whether or even which people are giving you points - from what I can work I think you have to click on your own rep icon to find out.

But Adam's orininal post said senior members could.
Not complaining mind you but .....
Look I'm just kind of setting myself up as a lab rat on this grand experiment to help see how it's going to work.

Sorry, I don't know what qualifies as a "senior member" - this is a question better directed at Adam.

Perhaps the condition should be is greater than X posts and less than Y infraction points

If this will lead to a grumpy old men's social group, then I'm in.

By senior member I meant people who would likely not abuse the system So let's say the criteria for determining that are magical. I think in fact that negatives will be removed entirely in the long run, as it sort of defeats the purpose of the system. Most forums that use this system have negatives disabled.

You can read your rep comments (BTW comments aren't needed to add reputation) in your User CP; usernames are hidden.

Adam, would it be possible to have negatives deleted automatically after a predetermined time? Say 1 Week or 1 Month.
