Is the UN totally out of touch?

Iran has just been selected to sit on the UN commission on Women's rights. Iran, which threatens to arrest women with suntans. Iran, which requires women who don't dress modestly enough to be stoned or lashed. Why are we still in it again?
But then again they let Libya head up the human rights commission in 03

Ahhhhhh I don't know but I suspect that they touch themselves and say "I'm the greatest " on a pretty regular basis.

Unlike your good friends in Saudi Arabia, where women are allowed pretty much the same freedom as a woman living in eastern Idaho.

Or even in Utah, come to think of it...

Since when has the US given a damn about the UN, apart from when their helicopters steal your thoughts or whatever?

I suspect the idea is to give voice to various ideals from across the spectrum.

The UN is not at all interested in "giving voice to various ideals.....".

Have you been hibernating these past decades?

The UN is dominated by the Muslim nations who will only tolerate the voices of Allah and Muhammed.

Every year the US signs by far the biggest check to the world's most corrupt and morally bankrupt organization. That's a fairly convincing start.

Permanent members of the UN Security Council - USA, Russia, China, Great Britain and France - yep plenty of tolerance for the voices of Allah and Muhammed there!

Those in Saudi are Obama's friends, not mine. Actually they may be his lord since he likes bowing to them.

So, you're homophobic... Why should we care? Why do you think it affects international politics?
