Wireless shutter release

One that I can use with the K-01 and Q.
Any reliable recommendations that aren't AUD$89

Jue Ying Remote Control RC-4 reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database

I have had about 5 of them. They are so inexpensive, I forget where I put them.
One I lost down theMather Gorge on the Potomac river.

On the K-01, it will operate the autofocus on the "W/T" button, a very convenient feature.

Take a look at Amazon.com: Pentax Remote Control F for Pentax Digital Cameras: Camera & Photo ... 'Pentax Remote Control F for Pentax Digital Cameras' -- got one for my K-01... it works fine ... but you have to use it from in front of the camera, not from the side or behind...

Amazon won't ship to Australia for small items.

I need to be behind the camera, otherwise it's pointless.
If this isn't possible then the K-01 is useless to me on a tripod.

Earlier on this thread on some other thread somebody posted that a Sony TV remote would work better that the Pentax one. I asked him to post the Sony remote type... or code numbers to punch in... but never got a reply. If you are on a tripod -- can youU use your regular DSLR with a normal (not wireless) cable release?

Also -- were you looking for some kind of screw-thing to go onto a hotshoe, to mount a second camera? Try movie-company supply stores-- they have a lot of gadgets that might work.

Well yes of course I can use the K-7 with a cable release. Doesn't exactly help me use the K-01 on a tripod with a remote shutter release though?

No, they're as cheap as chips and all over eBay so no problem getting one. I wanted to hear from anyone who used one and if they caused any issues in the hot mount.

I used a few of the cheap ebay ones and never had an issue. They are cheaper than what battery would cost. like this one

Yes thanks, I've seen those. But in the event is seems I cannot do what I would like to do with the K-01. So I've given up on the idea.

The istDS only has a front sensor. Users just stuck a bent post-it note on the front of the sensor to bounce the IR signal coming from behind the camera.

I can't see that working well outside in the wind.
I have a K-7 and I use a cable release for that.

Hi Mr. Sledger, I have (2) nos of the original Pentax F Remotes that I bought for a song in the US when Wolf Camera was closing down. Now here is better news. I bought an awesome Remote - as good and well built as the Pentax F - for the huge sum of US $2.29, yes two dollars and twenty nine cents, including shipping - see the attached eBay Order. And it even worked on my friends Nikon 5200 DSLR.
It was shipped from China to my US Address. And the Post Mark from China says USPS??
Go get one Sie, you won't regret it. Buy some (5) nos for your friends.
Regards.

Thanks.
Interesting article. I'll consider it.
But it would have been a lot easier if there was an IR receiver on the rear of cameras without a cable release socket.
I'm not finding a lot to love about the K-01 (except the price I paid). I probably should have waited for the price of the K-30 to drop lower.
