Thanks Mike. We've had pretty nasty weather the past couple of days, but it's supposed to clear by Sunday. I hope to get some good pics then.
Thanks Tony, still waiting to see some of yours!

Hmmm, I thought I had posted some in another thread. I'll have to search and see. It's been a while since I've flown, and I still have an unfinished mini-quad sitting on my office shelf. Too many irons in the fire.

Pretty nice stitches for aerial shots!

I got one of my Flamewheel frames up in the air for the first time in awhile last week, pointed my GoPro 3 BE straight down for this shot. Must say I'm pretty impressed with the GP3 still shots, especially compared to the original Gopro HD

Thanks Glen. Nice shot, I like that perspective. Keep 'em coming.

It's been a while...

I picked up the 08 Wide Zoom around August. Work has been keeping me too busy to fly, ..., and post. I was able to take the Phantom out on a Sunday morning last September. Here are a couple shots, first from the Q, then with the Q7. Both at 3.8mm, looking toward the same direction and quickly processed from RAW in RawTherapee. The altitudes are different I'm sure. From the ground it's difficult to tell if the copter is at 90 feet or 125 feet.

Pentax Q, 08 Zoom @ 3.8mm, 1/800s, f5, ISO 125

Pentax Q7, 08 Zoom @ 3.8mm, 1/800s, f4, ISO 100

I'll try to take, and post more, in the New Year.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks. I like the point of view from the Q7 and 08. I just wish Pentax had left the minimum for interval shooting at 1 second like it is on the Q. That would give a better chance of getting a good shot.

You should get yourself a GoPro for that thing. They are not so expensive and take nice snaps too.
GoPro would definitely be easier, but why let GoPro have all the engineering fun.

While I don't know how the compare to GoPro, Mike's pictures do show that the Q can have some some interesting applications.

Thanks Jim. Modifying the Phantom to fit the Q was a fun challenge. And while using the GoPro would have been easier, I already had the Q at the time. The upside of using the Q is that one can get different perspectives with the different lenses, just like down here on Earth.

A Q on eBay is about half the price of a go pro if the worst happens. Plus a go pro is not a Pentax. ;-)

Ricoh should see this pictures and begin thinking in a qs2 with 4k 60fps video.
