Aerial Photography With Pentax Q and DJI Phantom

So I picked up a Q with the 01 Prime last year. It's so small it seemed perfect for aerial photography. I discovered the DJI Phantom shortly thereafter, but it was expensive. A couple months ago the Phantom dropped $200 so I snapped one up. I've posted a brief tutorial on mounting the Q to the Phantom and posted some photos for anyone interested. Just go to MCHerdering Photography and click on the 'Aerial Photography' link on the upper left.
Here's what it looks like:

Thanks for looking.

Awesome!

Do you think the 03 Fisheye might find some application here too?

I was going to wait for the new wide prime on the roadmap. If that takes too long I might look the the 03. Distortion would be a concern, but if it's correctable in post I might pick it up.

Here's the house (big one with the gray roof) I grew up in:

That is pretty sweet. Keen to see more results. Do you just set it to interval mode?

How do you activate the shutter? Do you simply record a video and grab stills from that or do you set your camera on some sort of interval mode?

I've been looking into doing this since I saw these type of helicopters -- good to see the prices coming down. Fun stuff!

Looks pretty cool, I'd be a bit nervous hanging the Q by the hot shoe mount though.

GroPro have a 1/4" tripod mount adaptor for about $10. (you would need a 1/4" male screw thread to screw into it and the tripod mount of the Q.

Sure the shots would be upside down, but it'd only take a second to flip round in post.

Yup, interval mode.

It's a thrill a minute! The Q is secure with this setup. Won't try it with the K-01 though.

Updated the landing gear. Jettisoned the balsa wood. Landings are a bit more stable now. Will post new images within a couple days...

This is the Q7 and 02 Zoom.

New images from a flight test are available. Shot with the Q7 and 02 Zoom. I mistakenly left the shutter speed at 1/100s, so they aren't as sharp as I'd like. I find the perspective of the skate park interesting though. Max. altitude was 97 feet.

You should get yourself a GoPro for that thing. They are not so expensive and take nice snaps too.
