I'd go with an OVF/EVF done the way Fuji did on the MX-1 ( I think that's the right model ) that could work like a range-finder with the OVF overlay, or be a true EVF.
Clip on to the hotshot, that would be awesome in a K-01 or Q package.

The longer I have the K-01 the more it grows on me. It's my everyday digital camera I'm not sure though that if they created something like a Fuji XT-1 that I would be willing to give up my K-3. I think they could do a redesign but not necessarily pit the mirrorless against the mirror.

For me, detachable EVFs are a pain in the butt. Small, fiddly and easy to lose. Given the state of the technology, there is no reason a built-in EVF couldn't be included with a potential K-02. There's plenty of room.

I had two of Sony's well regarded detachable EVFs for the NEX system. I agree with Biro that they are very annoying. The built in EVF of the NEX 6 and others is much easier to use. Almost as good as an OVF on a dslr, better in some ways. But the detachable one was just a bother.

I'm another one who's used a detachable EVF and found it annoying.

Dear Pentax, please include an EVF on the K-02, OK?

PS - luv my bumblebee K-01, thx for that. xoxo

Well in that case I would like two models, one with EVF and one without (I think Samsung is doing that). I would buy the one without EVF.

While you'r at it, put in a Full Frame sensor.

But then I couldn't use the lovely DA Ltd.'s with it.

Please Don't.
FF doesn't have the same Depth of Field characteristics as Super35 formatted film cameras, APS-c is pretty close to the same depth character.

Dear Pentax, can we have a touch screen please on our next K30/K-50 type model? I never thought I'd be asking for this, but I am. You see my little Olympus Pen M43 camera has this capacity and I'm just finding it to be AWESOME. I just touch and tap, and BOOM, there's my pic and the AF is nearly perfect every time. My eyes aren't perfect these days and I find this little trick really, really helpful and much easier and faster than using LV. My new Pen I don't even need a magnifying eye cup or the EVP 3/4 of the time now. If you guys could do your own version of this I'd be mighty pleased. It's really helpful when I am in a hurry...

No.
Just, No.
Used them on different camera's and 95% of them suck.
Might be okay for Stills shooters who don't use the LCD much, but for us Video/Cinema types, touchscreens are a Pain In The A$#e, fingerprints everywhere.

I dislike tapping for shutter actuation, but enjoyed using my old EPM-2's touchscreen for selecting AF point.

So I would not mind a touchscreen, at all. For folks who don't like it, simply disable it.

It's not a question of room, it's a question of cost. I'd take better video features over an evf any day at a lower price point. Especially since anyone using it for video would rarely, if ever, use the evf.

My 2 cents.

Who buys a Pentax to shoot video? And if they did, why wouldn't they want to use the EVF for that? Don't actual video cameras come with an EFV?

The idea being discussed would have been to attract video shooters to something in the pentax lineup And no live view is superior to the EvF/OVF for video monitoring, if they aren't already using a dedicated monitoring setup. I could never properly hold the camera when it's up to my face when I'm doing video.
