K-01 any good for storm photography

I have a k-50 it was my first dslr and have a friend who is keen to get into photography mainly family/storms I was leaning towards telling her to get the k-50 like mine then thought about it and then thought maybe the k-01 might suit her. What's your thoughts I sort of thought it might be a cheap way for her to get into a different sort of photography I know the lens etc are all still the same but a cheaper body might allow her to get an extra lens on a $600 budget. Which way would you lead her?

Eh, if she wants to use it in rainstorms, I wouldn't use a non-WR body. A k-50 with a DA 18-135 or DA 18-55WR would be sufficient, in my opinion.

It is fine if inside and sheltered, otherwise tell her to get a WR body and lens.
