My mini travel tripod replacement idea

While on holiday in museums, restaurants, or even or walking for night shots I use a small jugglers bean bag for a tripod like this.

5 x Juggling Beanbags - Pyramid Bean Bags - Practice Beginner Juggling Balls | eBay

Can't find an individual one on eBay right now! But it was 1.60 delivered. I jam my Q7 against it and any surface be it vertical, horizontal or jagged. I can effectively hand hols the 08 lens to over 2 seconds with it, well that's been the Longest I've needed so far in a museum. It was against a thin vertical pole. I've had it on top of a jagged wrought iron casting, edge of a bin, and many others to similar effect
Probably needs to be a small camera though.
Best tripod I've ever had :-)
I'm sure it's been done before though........

My other tripod is a jobo micro 800. about the size of a thumb folded up.

JOBY Micro Hybrid: Ultra-portable camera tripod for hybrid, CSC, EVIL cameras

I feel the small Q's deserve to travel light.

I recently bought a monopod/walking-stick, because my usual need for support will be when taking looonng (lots of zoom) pictures during bird walks with my wife; then I need steadiness during composition even more than when taking the actual picture.

String Tripod

A "string tripod." A cord/webbing attached to bottom camera (tripod screw eye) and loop at other end for foot. Pull up on camera against resistance.

Is there some way to adjust the length of the cord/webbing? I'm thinking that you might need a different length depending on whether you're shooting upward, straight, or downward.

A taut line hitch would work fine. Same as used on tent/tarp tie down lines. Likely others--if you know or look up various knots.
