Battery Grip?

Any idea if the K30 will take a battery grip? It's one of the few things I really dislike about my Kr, and one of the main reasons to ditch it.

This is the only shot I could find on Pentax's UK website that shows the base of the body, can't see if there are any contacts.

No, it will not. Does not have contacts for grip.

It says it does in the specs sheet Adam posted and when I quized the Australian Pentax Facebook moderator about it, he was under the assumption it did as well by the specs they had but he was waiting on full details over the next couple of days.

JCPentax posted at DPReview that the K-30 does not accept a grip.

Dealbreaker for me..just have to wait and see what the new flagship camera will be, hopefully that means I can snatch a k-5 for cheap!

You already can.

I don't think the K-5's price will drop further before it becomes unavailable.

Used prices are a different matter, of course.

P.S.: It is conceivable that JCPentax does not know everything and there will be a battery grip option for the K-30 after all.

Pentax had grips that don't need extra contacts in the past already. They have a protruding part that reaches into the battery compartment. I'd say that it is unlikely that something like this will come from Pentax (and isn't announced yet), but maybe such a gadget will become available as an after market item (depending how difficult it is to deal with the battery compartment door).

The K100D did not have a genuine grip option but third party manufacturers produced grips for it. Weather-sealing will be most likely be compromised with such a grip, though.

I'd like to see a grip also but even if they can't make a functioning grip, at least make a grip for the comfort factor in addition to making it easier to hold for the big hands people!

3rd party vendors could easily make a working shutter grip ala the old k100d, due to the fact it has a shutter cable release instead of IR only.

I don't see any provision for a battery grip here...

He did say he would have to make another, so I suspect that means he made the one for the KX.
