I'm curious about the "Pentax Hand Strap" which photographyblog.com mentions as an optional accessory. Can any pictures be provided on this?
My guess is it refers to this: Pentax DSLR Leather Hand Strap 85101 B&H Photo Video

Only thing that really troubles me is the lack of a top LCD - I do enough tripod shooting (especially HDR) for this to be a real problem. Since I'm not looking to upgrade until the Autumn anyway, I guess the question of whether it's a dealbreaker will depend on how much the K5 replacement costs Improved AF (if it actually is improved!) is a big plus point though: from my experience with the K20D (which I love to death, don't get me wrong) I can confirm that the K5 was not the first Pentax camera AF to be confused by indoor lighting.

Since I first saw the two new K-30 models I have been saying that it looks as if Pentax has finally -- wisely -- decided to imitate automobile colors instead of PlaySkool colors.

WOW!! Those colors are amazing!! I was really digging the blue and still am. But that silver is reall badass! I bet it would sell really well in the USA if they would offer it here.

Does anyone understand the logic in not offering colors in the US?

Probably for the same reasons the K-x '100 Colours' were not available in the US, as outlined by Pentax USA here:

Any idea when/if all the '100 Colours' and styles will become available outside Japan?

I don't think anytime soon. Something most people don't necessarily consider is the purchasing habits in different culture. In Japan, a customer would never dream of returning a product after they committed to purchasing it. If they order a pink and yellow camera, and they didn't like it after it arrived, they would stick with their decision. U.S. customers tend to return product for everything from real to perceived defects, to buyers remorse. That would leave Pentax or dealers with a bunch of odd colored cameras that people decided to return.

Thanks. So we're fickle and spoiled. I'm going to stomp my feet and hold my breath until they change their policy!

That's nice, but I'll only be interested if there's a quick and easy method for changing from hand strap to neck strap and back. Any idea on that?

I've seen somewhere the system which allowed fast switch between straps, but I can't remember what it was (Kata or Black Rapid maybe).

I own a "Matin" hand strap, it has a plastic base with a screwmount which allows attaching a neckstrap from the other side of the camera, but I'd like to have some kind of a quick release system instead.
