First Problem with K30

The first problem I see with the K30 has to do with it's marketing.
By now, everyone has seen the image of the K30 in what appears to be
a "dunking" into water.

This is the orientation that is appearing all over the web.

If you look at the image carefully, it's NOT being dunked, but splashed on.

So unless Pentax fixes the image, people are going to start crying "foul" that the
K30 can't survive water immersion.

Sorry but my first impression was that it was under flowing water, not getting dunked. Those do not look like bubbles, they look like water droplets.
Or more like the camera is stuck in an icicle, waiting to be freed by a new to Pentax, young adventurous owner.

Just wait a bit. When more people see the image as it was taken, they will see the difference between being splashed on vs. a quick dunking.

When I saw the image at first, I saw the picture as a dunking into water.

The K30 is no Optio WG2.

One doesn't even have to look carefully to see it is being splashed, not dunked. These cameras are being marketed as weather resistant, not waterproof, so anyone who dunks their camera and causes it to stop working is asking for an expensive repair.

First thing I thought when I saw it was, it was getting splashed from the side. However, now that you bring it up and I change my perspective, I can see the dunking. Not sure how many people will see that right off though.

How you could possibly see that as being immersed is beyond me.
It's not an underwater camera!

Boy, am I off! I thought that it was being refreshed by a splash of cyanoacrylate. Good to know that water will be a problem.

Although like the rest of the posters, I always saw it as being splashed on the side, I think a few people will see it differently, like the OP.

The bigger problem, IMHO, is that many retailers are choosing to bundle the non-WR lens with the camera, despite having the option, according to a Pentax representative.

When I first saw the image, I was like "Wow...waterproof!!!!". Then I couldn't figure out why there were no bubbles around the lens after the dunk. Then I looked closer and realized the orientation was off.

Besides, now that a few people here are saying "I saw it as a splash from the first time", how many people are going to actually say they saw it like I did?

I'll make a predication on this one.

I have done something like that to my K7 before, had to get rid of some chocolate milk.
