K-30 on display at Melbourne Digital Show

For anyone in Melbourne (Victoria, not Florida) who wants to have a look at the K-30 CR Kennedy has some on display at The Digital Show which is on this weekend at Jeff's Shed. I must say I quite like the blue version, but don't think I'll be able to get blue limited lenses to match. FWIW, they have the Ricoh cabinet right next to the Pentax one and looking from one cabinet to the other made me wonder whether future Q or K0x cameras might sport an upgraded version of the VF-2 viewfinder from the GXR. Give me that option and I'd happily buy the Q.

They won't let you play with it though (at least not just anybody).
I just got the K5 offered for an amazingly low price in 2 of the Melbourne shops which makes me wonder whether there's another release from Pentax in the pipeline? But if there was, one would have thought they announce it at the 'Digital show'. Does anybody know more?

At Melbourne Show as well

Well the K30 seemed to be a prototype according to the presenter there and he said he only found out it was weather-sealed in the last few days. I think its literally hot off the presses for them as well. I didn't like the shape of the K30 grip compared to my K7 and now am more determined to get the K5.

By the way handled both the Q and K-01 while I was there. I quite liked the K-01. Its boxy but worked well with the new 40mm XS. With the pancake lenses the K-01 works well but I wouldn't consider using it with any zooms including the kit.

Cool, good to see, would be nice if the K30s were at least hand holdable- as that by itself is a big selling point for Pentax - ergonomics.

Was talking to the rep at the show about upgrading from K-X. What prices did you get for K-5? And from which shops? With the TEDS $50 off coupon, their price is $949 body only.

Oh. now I'm not so sure whether I should tell.. not that all of you are rushing in to buy the suppliers out of stock... :-)

I asked Ted's first, they offered $920 and Camera warehouse would match it. I had never seen a price blow $1050 before...

The way the guy at the booth answered me, I'm not sure if the K-30s there on display were even working models, let alone pre-production models. I must say though, the blue looks quite nice in real life.

Yes, I had the feeling it caught some of the staff by surprise; the release AND that they were given one for display....

Would've been nice to see Pentax making it presence felt by having its own stand there.
