Image of K-30 Can I use a Digital Camera Utility4?
Answer

RAW image editing and deployment is not compatible with JPEG images can be viewed.
Interesting that you can only use the bundled K-30 software to open RAW files shot with the Q, K-30 and K-01.
And PDCU 4 - as supplied with the K-5, Kr, Kx etc - can't open K-30 RAWs - only K-30 JPGs.

Looks like Pentax will be moving forward with Silkypix Developer Studio in future, rather than PDCU 4.

PDCU 4 was silkypix, it just save them the money to adapt it.

Curious about if the software will be picky with camera you use, i doubt you need to intsall two version of the program if you happen to own a K5 and Q for example.

When the Q came out, I downloaded Silkypix Dev Studio. It wouldn't open any of my K-5 or Kx DNG's. So yes, you may need to run both softwares. Or just use Lightroom etc.

Plenty of HD space for another RAW program. I don't see a big deal about it.

The Silkypix that came with the Q would not open any of my other Pentax DSLRs as rawr stated. The K-01 Silky will also open Q DNG. Silkypix wants you to upgrade to their full program. I like it a lot and may do so.
thanks
