Strange thing to say for a weatherproof camera. In fact the only mention of anything related to weatherproofing I saw was "If the terminal covers are not closed correctly, the dust-proof and water-resistant qualities of the camera will not be effective."

Incorrect use of "breakdown" too...

Also... Toxic gases?
Seems reasonable - I assume it's a CYA note. Don't drop it into a vat of HCL, the manual said not to.

What does the '3D' underneath the GPS icon signify (p-23 of the manual)?

On p-29 of the manual there is also a mysterious 'alert' icon on display (next to the author name and copyright text boxes) relating to an item 38 - 'Information Tampering Warning', but there is no explanation in the manual about what that may mean.

Nope, that's setting auto ISO range, not auto ISO speed.
I guess I don't know what that means, then. Which Pentax body do you have that had this ?

Just unboxed mine. This is the first Pentax camera yet to NOT include an owner's manual.

Not even a 'content list.'

Sure enough, I checked the Pentax contents page and an owner's manual is NOT listed ..

I got a manual (and manual CD) with mine. Good job too as when I looked yesterday the manual was not available on the Pentax UK site.

----------------------------------------------

Mine came from Amazon. I'm working with them yesterday and today. I may have gotten grey market. I'll know more today.

The one that came to me from Amazon came in a K-30 kit box. The 18-135mm lens had been removed, the lens cap was still in the box, the hard copy manual, registration, and serial number registration were all missing, as was the 'Quick-Start' guide.

I'll keep this updated, perhaps with a new thread.

To those of us with tablets, it may be good to note that if you put this file in your Kindle directory, you can have a portable copy for ready reference.

My k30 from amazon, which was a kit with the 18-55 mm lens came with a manual. (paper) in the box and a quick start guide. It also came with the pentax editing software, but I don't use that, I use photoshop. I am looking forward to downloading the pdf version to my ipad!

I had a (paper) manual in the box.Incidentally it is in American rather than English and printed in the Philippines.

I also have a pdf manual that I had downloaded before buying the camera, so as to make sure I understood well what it could and could not do. That was back in August. I cannot remember where I downloaded it from but it was probably from the Pentax official site.It is also in American despite saying 'Printed in Europe' on the back page.

Same.

I cant believe pentax would sell a camera without a manual! That makes no sense.
