Ok is there a difference in the processer and sensor in the pentax K-01 and the K-30 camera ? i read somwhere they share the same processer and sensor ??? is this true or what can u tell me ? will the k-30 make better pictures or the same as the k-01 ???? 2 question i know u get ask this alot but do u know when the k-30 will be in the store?

I asked a tech guy here who is more knowledgeable than I am. His reply:

I suspect they are the same sensor and processor, however Pentax’s website does not mention enough detail to confirm this. According to DPreview.com’s review of the K30 (Pentax K-30 16MP weather-sealed mid-level DSLR previewed: Digital Photography Review), it does have the same sensor and processor as the K-01. Assuming one had the same lens or same quality lens on each camera, and set the exposure settings the same, the image quality would also be the same between the two.

As far as the availability of the K30, Pentax is permitting us to accept pre-orders on the camera, but there's no sense of how long it could take to fulfill your order should you place your order today. I am sorry that we have no specific information provided to us from Pentax as to how long it may take to fulfill.

K-30 Sensor | Pentax Support

K-30 has same sensor as K-5 which AFAIK is same as K-01. Sample images from the K-30 are available now so you can see how it compares for yourself, I would think it is very similar with possibly some minor software tweaks vs K-01.

Imaging Resource "Comparometer" Comparator shots of K01 & K-30 @ ISO 1600 are virtually identical, with a very very minor sharpness advantage on the K-30
