It's not a review, just 2 brief paragraphs and some pics.

I'm still irked that this camera is being distributed with the DA L 18-55.

Probably just to keep the price at where it is, although it may backfire if a lot of people end up drenching their K-30 with kit lens thinking they are protected...

I have been thinking of the Pentax K-30. It would be my first Pentax camera if I get it. I'm now thinking of what to do though. I wanted to move to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 because of the IBIS and it's weather sealed. I then learnt about the K-30, and thought about getting it. Now I'm not sure because I would have to get the 18-135mm lens, or just buy body only + separate lens. I'm so undecided, so I'm going to wait to read reviews on the K-30.

Can't you buy it with the 18-55WR as a kit? You certainly can in the UK; from dealers like SRS. If not, you could specifically ask for them to 'upgrade' the lens for you.

Or else, buy body only, and get an unboxed WR lens split off from a K5 kit.

In the US they are selling the 18-55mm DA L lens. It seems no one is selling the WR version of the lens.

So are all DA * WR too?

I have a Canon right now, so I don't know much yet.

DA* lenses (DA*55, DA*16-50) are weather sealed. They have higher weather tolerance than the normal WR lenses.

The USA kit lens for the K-5 was the DA 18-55WR, right?
