Their "summaries" for the shots aren't exactly helpful, with for instance very many shots at ISO 100, the differences only being identifiable by comparing a long list of not-entirely-specific parameters and/or working it out from the cryptic filenames.

Then just look at the standard set of images they feature in their 'Comparometer':

K-5 ISO 100

K-30 ISO 100

Looks as good as the k-5, if not better (but due to focus it seems to me). Colors are about the same. At ISO 1600, they seem the same, again. Looks like just a smidge more noise (luminance) in the shadows for the K-30. At ISO 25,600, the k-5 wins in noise. Chroma noise is still practically non-existent on the k-30 (which is great in terms of recovering color tones in shadow areas), but luminance is pretty destructive. However, the amount of detail still retained in that ISO 25,600 shot is amazing.

Which criteria to use for deciding whether a shot is a waste of shutter?
Can you offer a "shutter actuation waste factor", and a way to calibrate it?

They're important for empirically measuring differences - something I find quite handy when deciding on a new camera so I certainly don't see them a senseless waste.
