but as of now, the dilemma is K-30 vs. K-5 for me
We will see the full capabilities of the K-30 once a couple of firmware is released. As of right now I don't think it's at it's highest capabilities seeing it does have a better and newer Prime M processor yet the buffer rate is less than that of the K-5, also who knows? Maybe Pentax will up the FPS on it and much more.

People still found problems with it. And there will be lots of problem reports with the K-30 for sure - real, perceived and imagined.

Look at the D800, 5D3, OMD, X10, X100, XPRO1, S100 etc etc too. Problems galore with all those cameras in forum land.
Also, the more the camera sells, the more reports you will hear, and it is usually the complainers who post on the forums. There are countless thousands who are happy with their cameras who CBA to voice their issues on line.

This was under Hoya.

I'm hopeful that Ricoh will make a difference. They seem 100% committed to lead the Pentax brand to new heights.

Well to shower the proverbial parade today my rear dial didn't zoom images in playback mode for some reason. I didn't think much of it, power cycled the camera and all is well. This was only once, and the camera had been powered off and on at least a dozen times through the day without issue since.

I think if there is any issue, it will be trivial like firmware bug rather than anything serious

The K10D had its share of troubles. Internal flash (for the very first batches), mirror issues, AF issues, vertical pattern noise...

Went to visit one at my local dealer today (Park Cameras). Didn't have a fiddle as their Pentax guy wasn't in. He will be tomorrow morning so I'll pop in then to ask if he has any stock ETA. Going to try to order local. Apparently they have a bunch on order, and I think I counted 5 orders placed already.

I was surprised by how small the K5 was - not a massive difference between k5 and k30 vs impressions I'd gathered from people here.

Looking onward to local stock!

That's probably the normal response for most camera users.

95% of the camera using public (ie those who don't hang around camera forums) could probably go through their whole camera career without being aware of any major problems with their camera gear.

And they definitely wouldn't be aware of the minor and imagined issues reported by other users if they didn't read forums.
