Continuous shooting and RAW limitations—is the manual correct?

The K-30 operating manual indicates some significant limitations with RAW capture in continuous shooting mode.

From page 121 in the Caution box:
QuoteQuote:
When <Continuous Shooting (Hi)> or <Continuous Shooting (Lo)> is set, you cannot save RAW images during Instant Review or playback.
From page 122 in the Memo box:
QuoteQuote:
If the file format is changed to [RAW] or [RAW+] while <Continuous Shooting (Hi)> is selected, the capture mode is temporarily changed to <Continuous Shooting (Lo)>.
These are lower specifications than either the K-r or K-5. However, is the manual correct here? The page 121 caution about not being able to save RAW data after continuous shooting is not a significant concern to me, but is the K-30 really limited to 3 fps in RAW or RAW+JPEG?

Temporarily changed to Lo? So can we switch it back to Hi?

Weird way to describe it...

It switch back to high when you set the option back to Jpeg.

I find it strange it also happens in RAW because didnt the specification has the buffer with high and low speed for RAW?

from pentaximaging.
Continuous FPS
- Continuous Hi: Approx 6.0 FPS (30 JPG, 8 RAW)
- Continuous Lo: Approx 3.0 FPS (unlimited JPG, 10 RAW)

Except it refers to RAW and RAW+, so either it prevents you from using RAW at Hi completely, or it does temporarily so you don't hit the buffer and lock the camera up (until you switch it back to Hi).

First option would suck, second option would be kinda cool.

Firmware bug or [status-bydesign] as we call it on Stack Exchange? If this is by design, then why? This is very odd behavior...

Re: Page 121 - this makes sense because you cannot extract the RAW information thats in the cameras temporary buffer if the whole buffer is stuffed full of JPG images

Page 122. I'm not sure what they are saying, but I know this:

Set camera to AV, 16M JPG *** quality, Continuous Hi. Squeezed off some shots (loving this FPS over the K20D btw haha) switched to RAW via menus and it stayed on Hi - tried shots and it was definitely still on Hi FPS.

I swapped back to JPG, repeated test using the dedicated RAW button and same result - Hi FPS was retained.

*Edit* this goes for RAW+ mode too

So it looks like there was a misprint or translation error in the manual.

Maybe nice to do a test. When you have a real fast card, that helps.

Picture the clock on your PC, so you see the seconds go by. RAW on hi-shooting for a full minute. Time when the camera is slowing down due to full buffer (you can see this also on the clock) and how long it takes before the red light from writing is out after stopping taking pictures. So you know the dept of the buffer for a burst and can calculate the number of files taken and thus the framerate with full buffer.

K-01 (also PRIME M processor):
Limited to 1 fps in Lo for unlimited numbers.

The K-1 can do 3 RAW files at (around) 6 fps with bracketingmode.

I notice just after i pressed submit so quickly changed it.
It seems to suggest you cant use Hi with RAW but the specs say otherwise.

The K-01 also does this. So far haven't found a way to shoot Hi and raw.
