Not bad efforts. Aquariums are demanding places to shoot. Glass reflection, lack of light, and moving subjects make for difficult shots. I'd make a few suggestions to improve your results. Pick a medium length fixed lens with a wide aperture to help increase shutter speed and/or lower ISO. I chose the 50mm f1.8 when I went to Baltimore earlier this year. Also, shoot in RAW. This gives you so much more control of the images when you get back home to your computer. I also shot a bit under-exposed. This allowed me to use a faster shutter to stop motion and I knew that I could increase the exposure in post production. A circular polarizing filter can help eliminate some glass reflections but will also make you lose some light through the lens resulting in a slower shutter. I tended to just try to use my body and camera angles to block hot spots and reflections off the glass.Take a look at some of my shots here: Baltimore/Inner Harbor/National Aquarium - a set on Flickr

And here are some examples of my results:

Very nice, I like your edited photos, much better when using a prime and shooting in raw. I knew it can be much better and that's why I mentioned that they are not edited, jpegs straight out of camera. I have some fast primes like FA 50mm 1.4 and 43mm limited 1.9 that I could have used but I went with my kids and decided to take one lens that would give me the ability to shoot wide angle if needed. (and the glass is not at all clean from kids touching it)

Yes, the camera pictured is a K-3... but the shooter is a K-30 with M-50/1.7

Ice Storm

The ice storm occurred overnight and into this morning. Our roads are clear for travelling but the trees are still covered in a layer of ice.

Regards

You should get a picture of a line with an open Tim Horton's.
