These guys are so photogenic. But, they always wear out their welcome very quickly. I don't mind one or two, but it always escalates to a FLOCK of mayhem & chaos.

I've never seen that particular kind of bird. Be interested in knowing what it is. Very nice shots.

Thanks very much, Jim. These are European Starlings. They are common throughout the US and Canada. They are the bane of farmers. They flock in the thousands and can decimate crops in a hurry. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/European_Starling/lifehistory

Nice captures, especially the first photo.

Ever hear the expression...

..."Stuffing your gullet"?

I wish I had taken the time to remove the dead stalk of millet. This would have been a nice one. It's gone NOW, of course.

Thanks Gary, I don't recall seeing them in my neck of the woods though. Maybe they haven't made it this far west yet.

Not strictly speaking the correct criteria but hopefully forgiven

The *ist DS from this marketplace, used for this shot was intended to tide me over until NZ finally got the K-30. showed up on my doorstep yesterday, it's missed the boat by week or two though Still takes a good picture
I've got same lens

Completely new to photography and the K30 is my first ever semi-serious camera. Also generally got no idea what I am doing so will be learning as I go. My first couple shots I took, nothing spectacular....

The next few were while camping over New Years...

Hand held and surprised how good it turned out. No flash (was a light source somewhere) and at about 9pm.

Nothing particularly special about these photos but i was impressed with how my older Pentax M 50mm f1.4 works with the K30.

The first is at f1.4 and the second is at f8

I also tried out some macro pictures. I used the 50-200 WR Kit lens and a Marumi Achromat +3 in front of it. My first shots with the Marumi...

Had a day where I could go out and actually take some photos around town. Unfortunately I discovered this place is hard to take interesting photos (plus I am not very good). The first one is the only one that is any decent of my time at the marina here. Then ended up just taking some pictures of my car which turned out ok.

Can't wait for my Sigma 10-20 to get here....
