Somehow I missed the fact I shot this a few years back. I saved it from oblivion on my hard drive.

If I remember right, this was a CPL filter on the kit lens and the luck of an absolutely gorgeous spring day.

K-30 and 55-300mm WR at the beach

I took the newly acquired 55-300mm lens to the beach a few days ago, where it and I got soaked. The 18-135mm is still my favorite go-anywhere lens, but I really like this one too. Well-lighted images look good at full resolution.

1. Best toddler ever
2. Plan B
3. Not exactly what I meant to shoot but a fine visual representation of why weather-sealed gear at the beach is a good idea.

Yeah, it is. Probably the most interesting picture of the day. The wave surprised me because I was looking at somebody trying to catch a ride maybe 75 meters out, and the camera refocused on the splash just as I shot.

From my cousin's wedding last weekend, the kids had fun running around the barn.

Recently bought the Sigma 18-35mm F1.8. Its a fantastic lens. I got this shot with it yesterday. Its a bit noisy and lacking the finer detail due to it being underexposed, but i like it anyway. Taken about 30 minutes after sunset, which is why the camera picked up the last of the fading light as the stars prepared to take over. ISO 100, 8 seconds, F1.8

I'm just getting into off camera flash.

The photo is of my 11 yr old granddaughter she had just returned from the beach with her grandmother. I talked her into posing for me as a test of off camera flash using a light meter (Sekonic L 308S) to add fill flash in this case. I was mainly concerned with exposure and ensuring the flash didn't look like flash. Processing was nil it's a Jpeg straight out of camera and cropped and 2 stray hairs removed from her face. The meters exposure recommendation was right on according to the the histogram.

The off camera flash is a Metz 48 AF-1 set to manual 1/128th power held to the left side high by me it was triggered by the K30's on camera flash. I'm waiting for my triggers, light-stands, 5 in 1 reflector, and umbrellas (shoot through and reflective) to come in can't wait.
