A few from a luau

I managed to drown my K-30 but here are a few shots from before its untimely demise, taken at a luau with the 18-135 WR. The first two are f/16, ISO 640, 1/125, no flash. The two ISO 6400 shots turned out really well, although in retrospect I would have shot them at 1600 or so and brought up the detail in post. Anyway, I mourn the K-30 and my stupidity in drowning it but I was lucky enough to get a K-3 as a gift to replace it.

(f/9, ISO 6400, 1/160 w/flash)

(f/4.5, ISO 6400, 1/80 w/flash)

Temperatures finally rose a bit around here. Can't believe this is the warmest winter on record! On March 12 I was able to get to my observing site with temperature around -10°C.

On my way there the sun was setting in a crystal clear blue sky promising a good night of observing.
With time to spare I took the liberty to snap this image.

I tested the DA* 50-135 on Orion at 115 mm f/3.5. Not easy to focus to infinity in the dark but very easy to accidentally undo it!
Just 4 min worth of subs at iso 2500 (tracked with O-GPS1) because distorsion of the lens prevents DeepSky Stacker to properly align stars on images that have shifted a bit.
So the 50-135 is not the perfect lens for astrowork but IQ is very very good for a zoom.

Dark and gloomy treatment for a 'Romanesque' style Paris Tabernacle, Paris Idaho. Samyang 8mm of course. ISO 200, F/11.0, 1/160. Post processing in Color Efex Pro

Here's another shot, also with the 8mm. Same exposure data, Cropped my shadow out.

Photographed in February 2015. Normally there would be several feet of snow all over. Not this winter.
