Red Headed Woodpecker- Not bad at all for 1/60, but there is still some motion blur. I would have pumped the ISO up from 200 to about 1600 and made a corresponding increase in shutter speed.

Stll in rookie phase but have started trying the AV mode

Also learning new birds - and bugs. Got lucky on the shot - it is in my backyard and just happened to see him, grabbed the camera and got in a couple of shots before he flew away.

The A Ha moment

First off you have to remember your dealing with a digital photography challenged photographer...so when I got the nifty fifty and was reading up on how to...I had to test it out today...of course my beautiful flower garden with four irises in it...and the tractor graveyard...after viewing the test shots...AHA

From our experience, calicos seem to be unimpressed with most activities of their human servants. Looks like you nailed the focus where it counted!
