1st Day of Shooting

I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos from my first day with my K-30. I'm really loving this camera. Feedback is welcome. You can see more pictures on my Flickr, if you'd like: Flickr: jonatizzle's Photostream

The clouds in southern Ontario lately are spectacular, especially taken with m K30, DAL 18-55 and polarizing filter.

Post Your K-30 Photos Here

I bought a remote release recently (online) and tested it out for a family portrait today. Worked amazingly (you can see it in my hand). Works with autofocus and at a good distance on the K30.

My fist day walking out with my Pentax-A 50mm 1.7
really hard to focus when wide open. So most of my shots where taken at 2-2.5 as I wanted to test what low aperture could do for me when compared to the 18-55 WR kit lens.

edit: as i remember the files below are untouched. I am using the silkypix that came with the camera and converted to JPEG. that's all

Beautiful. I am having some issues with reds being oversaturated when in full daylight, and losing detail - - - others have complained about the same. But as shown in your photos, when the light is a bit softer, the reds are magnificent.

I think it's the JPEG engine that does this. When I shoot in RAW+ and convert the RAW file to JPEG on a computer, it produces details in the reds noticeably better than the corresponding OOC JPEG.

Chanced on a wedding portrait being taken.

K30; FA*85/1.4

Its interesting to see that for the portraits, there were like 3 sets of medium format film cameras being used (not in photo).
Perhaps for such formal and important occasions the Japanese still want it on good quality medium format film (esp prints)

Agree with that. Those red cloth shots on imaging-resource that smudge out on most cameras, including Pentax K-30 JPGs, look superb if you use RAW - packed with detail. Why can't camera manufacturers get their JPGs better? There's plenty of room for possible improvement.

I shoot RAW+ and it is in the RAW (DNG files) that I am seeing red over saturation in strong lighting situations.
