I've used both and get loss of detail in the strong reds with both. RAW images keep the detail better.

I will add this comment.... Pentax may have made an unannounced subtle change to the JPEG engine in one of the firmware updates (K-30 in my case) as I don't perceive the issue to be as severe as it was when I went through multiple attempts to "fix" the problem several months ago. Can't tell you how many pictures of roses and poinsettias I took late in 2012 looking for a solution.

i have heard that 1.00 has the best image quality. That's a shame as i read this way after updating mine to 1.04. I didn't even take a picture in 1.00 to even compare quality. So... if somebody has more info on this let me know

Opposite for me if there was a change. Current firmware "seems" to have less of a problem with reds in JPEG images. Not entirely sure, though.

I've had my K-30 for less than a week, (got it Saturday) and took this one hand held, near dusk:

tell me about it Jim. that's my younger brother. he's liked the braves since he was a little boy. I guess he was trying to be different from me being as we grew up 40 minutes north of bean-town.
Also, very keen eye! (knowing that was Boston)

I've stood very near that same spot several times. Our daughter and son-in-law lived in Cambridge for a couple years. But their career tracks saw them moving to another part of the country last month.

From my wife's camera a couple years ago...

Just got a new body after my old one was replaced under warranty because of a broken aperture control unit.

This is the fourth shot I took with the replaced body with my A-series 50mm F1.4: Jump | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
