As an aside, it seems the camera focused on the stuffed toy, rather than the dog (unless that was the intention).

Could very well be, I believe I pre-focused on the toy and was trying to have the dog and toy be the same distance from me. (or it could be the shutter speed of 1/640 was not fast enough to freeze it)

On the other end of the spectrum, no problem freezing anything at -10. Testing out my new Sigma 28mm f/2.8 with a 25sec exposure of the Chena River last night.



No northern lights last night while I was out unfortunately.
