Thanks, I used a 10 stop Haida ND filter.
1st time using it and I was surprised that it gave no color cast despite the cheap price.
I like the contrast of the peaceful water and rocks with the industrial horizon. Nice shot!

My first trip in the Danube Delta included a three hour boat ride, so I took my chance and took some wildlife shots with the 55-300. Feel free to criticize as I know I'm a rookie in this area.

Wow, that last shot is real nice with the boy in the boat!

Just one I decided to color grade a little bit and do a little more than I usually do on LR4

Fixed it! Thanks, Jon!
You can always see the full set on Flickr, but here are some more shots:

- Great crested grebe with its chiks:

- Great white pelican taking off:

- More pelicans and cormorants:

- One of the few rowing boats used for pleasure/photo cruises:

I wonder, has National Geographic's called you yet? Those are some damn fine photos, I can't really pick a favorite...the boy in the boat is very engaging, the bird in flight (very first picture) is really well done, the calmness of the "lotus-like" flower.....very good set.

Thanks, mate! I didn't expect such a positive review. I guess National Geographic photo hunters are not very active on Flickr and Pentax Forums.
Still I have lots to learn before I produce some NG-worthy pictures.

@pinholecam: I've been watching your activity in this thread and I've come to the conclusion that I really need the DA15 Ltd. You've taken great shots with this lens. All I have to do is quit smoking for about 8 months and I shall have it.

I usually don't post too many portraits because I think that the nicer work that I'll get to do is far away in front of me when I get at the very least an out of camera flash for fill light in my ambient light portraits I try to snap here and there. Still, had to share this one of my granddaughter specifically for you guys to let me know what you think knowing, that I think from the get go, I needed a little bit more of fill flash from the on camera flash. Tried to bring it as much as I could without taking away the original, sun to the back rim lighting her feel of it.

I think the lighting is perfect here. What I would say is when shooting kids get down to their level rather than stand and shoot down at them.

Thanks, dcBear78!

With my granddaughter is a difficult thing to get a shot now and then, since she thinks the focus confirmation I love so much, it's the camera shooting already! Imagine that I am standing on a wheelchair ramp going from left to right on the frame, and I had to get over the handrail in order to take this one. She was walking outside of the ramp and all of a sudden goes, "papa, picture!!!" looked, composed the bright area behind her a little, locked focus and, snap!

BTW I am a whole 6'3" and sometimes get lazy on that when it comes to bending down that far!!! lol But point taken.
