@Tsuken Thanks for your comments. Wow 2 min with a 135! And right on the equator too! An excellent shot, the center of the nebula is not overexposed! The most I get most of the time is between 40 to 60 sec with my 135 and 30 to 40 s with my smc Pentax-M 200 f/4. I think the Tokina may not be exactly 200 mm by Pentax standards. I'll have to test this with my M lens.

Stopping down helped a bit but the lens has sort of a softfocus effect that spreads the light of the stars on a big surface. I guess I'll have to save up to get that smc Pentax-A* 200 2.8 ED lens.

Thanks. Odd that you're not getting as long. I have read that it varies quite substantially depending on what but of the sky you're aiming at. Accurate calibration is a big thing too; I've had abject failures down to just not getting it quite right.

From earlier today, finally got the motivation up to take my camera out again. All were taken with my Sigma Mini-Wide II 28mm, which I've grown to really like.
