Pentax K-30: Anyone else get this e-mail from Ricoh-Pentax?

I received an e-mail from Pentax announcing several demos of the K-30 around the country. Sounds great, would love to see one in person, but looking at the locations, seems like some very odd venues - not the kinds of places you're likely to find potential interest (e.g., Cody, WY?! not that there's anything wrong Cody, of course. . . )

Not a blip for Pentax in the mid-atlantic really :-(

I saw that list - and not too convenient for me on a Tuesday evening in downtown Chicago. I wonder if there's some festival or event in Cody that day. It would be nice to attend one, though.

Most of those are for the Optio WG-2 camera. The list for the K-30 is far shorter and only NE, Central, and Pacific locations. At least they are demoing the Optio WG-2 camera outside Denver, SF, Chi, NYC.

If it says "Get Out More Tour" its for the WG-2.

If it says "K-30 Product Tour" then its for the K-30.

Cody is 'only' 300 miles away from me. It would be a nice trip though, having to go through Jackson Hole, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone to get there.

Yeah, but if that is 21.9 miles on I-5, that could take hours!

Those are mostly at REI and similar outfitting stores. Cody is right next to Yellowstone. Makes sense...

Yep, I'd like to see one, too, and enter the contest to win one!

Did I read correctly that the K-30 has a battery adapter for AAs like the K-r?

Yes, because it uses the same battery as the K-r too.

I wonder how much of a discount they are going to give during the event. I hope it's worth battling Seattle I5 rush hour. If I make it, I'll let you all know what they have.

I went to the event in Denver on Tue. 7/10. Pretty cool. They have all of the current bodies and lenses there to play with. Plus goodies (Pentax pens, chapstick(?), lens wipes and keychains).

They did a 60 minute powerpoint presentation on the K-30, then had Q&A and plenty of hands-on with the K-30.

The discount they offer is $100 off the K-30, but only thru the Pentax webstore, and only for one week. (Mine expires on 7/17)

It was worth it to me mainly because there is nowhere in Denver to actually touch the bodies and lenses. Go if you can.

Very nice. Only wish they actually took it on the road to most of the US. Nice to know that they are generating a few more swag items too.

I don't get back to the DC area until August 05, not sure where and how I can get to one of the sites before this is over. I'm not really interested in driving a long ways just to see, but I may have to.
