Does the one in my dreams count? Cause if so I'm shooting with one quite a bit, wink. Seriously, I have $78.48 cents in Hello Kitty bank that's dedicated to the purchase of a K-30. (Shhhh....I don't want LIFE to hear me. Every time I get a few $$$$ in there for it LIFE finds a reason to spend it...) That's about what 1/10th of what a body goes for right now? At the rate I am going about this time next year, I think. Though with all the K5-II upgrades coming up I might get there before then buying used....

I got my K-30 in mid August. My previous camera (which I still use) is a K-r which (coincidentally) I had bought exactly one year before that to the day.

I'm loving my new K-30. It's been a great upgrade to my old trusty K-x, particularly the sure footed focusing.
cheers,

My white k-30 arrived today, wow, I am totally impressed. I have read a lot about this camera online, and finally went down stairs and found my hammer and broke my penny bank to buy it. I am sure glad I did. LOVE IT! I ended up with the kit lens 18-55mm and the 43mm 1.9 limited. I have future plans to by a zoom and a wide prime.

I am looking forward to learning the ins and outs of this camera. I am so super excited. This is my first digital Pentax, I also own a Pentax 35mm IQZoom 160.

Oh that reminds me I should got clean up the mess from the penny bank that I broke. LOL

thanks for the reply - so far I am so amazed by the IQ, this camera is so super cool. I have shown a few friends of mine and they want to know all about it, so you are right its quite a conversation starter for sure . I am trying to convert them all to Pentax

Looking into picking up the Black K-30 + 18-55 DA-L in the next week or so, and then finding a deal on a 55-300 DA-L to extend the reach a bit. My current camera (Casio EX-FH20) has obtrusive noise at anything over ISO 200, and exposures are limited as sensitivity is increased -- 30 seconds at ISO-100, all the way down to 2 seconds at ISO-1600 (coupled with unusable amounts of noise). Looking forward to the K-30's clean images and excellent DR for doing astrophotography.

If you can afford the extra cash the 18-135wr it is a better choice . I purchased the 55-300DAL from a shop on ebay for $209 with free shipping . Great lens for the price , has the plastic mount and does not include hood or case . Same consruction as the more expensive model but a lacks the quick focus adjust .

I got my white "stormtrooper" body a week ago. Cool.

Also I'm happy to be able to use again some old lenses from the film era, e.g. XR Rikenon 50mm F2 and Tamron Adaptall 80-2010. They seem to compare very favourably to digital era lenses. Yesterday I got my first Pentax, the "plastic wonder" DA 35 F2.4, and I must say XR Rikenon beats it clearly in sharpness. Example:

Without being able to see the 100% full size image, it's hard to judge how sharp the lens is. That pic could have been taken by the 18-55mm kit lens for all I can tell from the reduced size image.

Hi Edgar,

Unfortunately there's a 5meg limit in Imageshag so I had to crop. I agree with you that with this picture I've "proven" nothing. Anyway these are my personal experiences when looking at the pictures these lenses produce.
