I've had a black one for a couple of months and I love it. My old dslr was my first one a Pentax KM so it's quite a step up. Now it's time to invest in new lenses, right now I have the 2 kit lenses a 70-300 sigma, Pentax 40mm 2.8 and several older 35mm manual lenses. I also have a Pentax K01 that was a Christmas gift, I taken a few shots and they look good. I just have to get used to not having a VF or second dial.

I just received my black K30 last night. Purchased it from B&H. I can't wait to start using it over the weekend. This is my first purchase of a DSLR camera.

Waiting on the tax return and I plan to grab the blue body and the 18-135mm separately in one order from B&H. I ran the numbers and the difference in price once I buy the 2 year 'drop it' warranty is $24 between the blue body and lens and the black 18-135mm kit. I don't mind paying $24 so I can have it in blue.

I also plan to grab a Bower 14mm and the O-GPS1 along with a better tripod (also blue...) than what I have now since the wife vetoed me getting a Q10 along with the K-30 (for now at least). If I do enough kissing up I may snag a Bower 85mm or Q (non-10) as well since I'm going to be repurposing the Q10 cost elsewhere.

With my pile of manual glass, the K-30 is a much smarter choice for me IMHO than the K-5II would be. I figure by next year or the year after the true K-5 successor will be out and I can grab that then if its worth it.

Blue for me. It was the cheapest one I could find on eBay. Wanted black but the blue has grown on me.

According to B&H, only a couple of pre-orders were shipped out to PF members. I hope the K-30 is in fact more popular than that! Post here if you've got one
Just purchased a Black K-30 from Overstock with the following lenses for $989.00, no tax or shipping.

SMC Pentax-DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR
SMC Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED

I researched Nikon D3200 and D7000 for a few months. I went to a local camera store to "feel" the Nikons and talk to an "expert". After an hour of conversation he recommended the K-30, even though they didn't carry them except at their main professional store in another city.

This is my first DSLR, still using a Minolta X-570. It arrives on Thursday and I couldn't be more excited to get out and shoot. I'm sure I will be purchasing a smc PENTAX DA 50mm f1.8 soon, but for the price I thought this was a great deal for a camera with these specs. I shoot in the snow and freezing mornings a lot.

I got the k30 because of the lens - it was cheaper to buy the 18-135 WR as a kit. I'm not sure the K30 is more stable than the k20 (it has some weird issues) but I like it so far. The lens is awesome.

ahhh - don't say that - I have spent hours researching the K30 and had decided to go with the K30 over a K5 mainly because of the focus peaking and low light AF.
Im coming from a K20d, so would be interested in more details about your 'less stable' comment

No weird issues with my K30. Make sure youre running the latest firmware too as it addressed some stability bugs.

Here are a list of issues that I *never* had with the k20 (but I'm not a good photographer so take with a grain of salt):
1. Just yesterday it decided to lose time with a charged battery. I had to reset date/time.
2. I put a newly charged battery in and my manual settings didn't work. Specifically I couldn't set the front dial fstop at all. I had to remove the battery and put it back in to get it to work.
3. The rear dial EV didn't work a couple of times. I had to turn off/on the camera to get it to work.
4. The mode dial didn't work a couple of times. Also had to turn off/on the camera to get it to work.
5. The EV bar scale goes nuts in manual mode (where I usually shoot). I just end up guessing where it is and it usually is fine. The K20 never did this. This is continuous. Not sure if my camera is bad or what.

I've only had to remove the battery once when it has gotten "stuck" a few times.

I've updated both the k30 and k01.

The EV bar has evened out so far (it used to go nuts to the left and right of middle constantly). We'll see about the other picadillos.

I stayed with the traditional black model with the 18-55 mm lens. All my cameras are black, K-01 and K-M also have an ME Super of course in black. Hey they match my lenses!

Just got my black K-30 last weeks. Purchased from Amazon as a kit incl 10-55mm and 50-300mm Pentax base model lenses. They are OK, from what I read, especially for beginners.
This is my first DSLR so I guess i have a long road to walk . But appetite comes with the eating...

It' s on the way...

A blue one, to go with my bumblebee K-01. Took K-01 to Tanzania with my old faithful K20 D and saw too much difference in the pics...So now a K30 will replace old faithful.
