I got my white K-30 in Tokyo (Yodobashi in Akihabara) for ~820 with the 18-135 lens.
When did you get it?
I just came back from Japan and got my K-30/18-135mm Kit at Mapcamera in Shinjuku for 603 Euro.
Think I got a good price since I tried to trade in a lens but I didn't take the offer I got for the lens but they gave me a good price for the camera and lens anyway. Maybe I got a good deal because they day before I bought a new lens from them...

I bought it about 2 months ago I think.
Yodobashi is not the cheapest, but I got additionally ~ 10.000 Yen onto my points card for this purchase.
Your deal sounds a lot better I have to say, but anyhow I am very satisfied both with the awesome cam and the price in general, especially if i look into the direction of Canikon for comparison ;-)

I like mapcamera, but since my office is around the corner from Akihabara I tend to go there.
And i am still pissed at Shinjuku in general because I could not find a K1000 there ;-)
i keep looking though...

Yeah, when I was there were hardly any used 35mm Pentax Cameras. Good luck finding your K1000!
Wish I lived in Japan, when I bought the K-30 I saw a guy next to me that used his points card to buy a good used copy of the DA 70mm F2.4 Ltd... gah!
And now I wished I had bought a used 01 lens for my wife... looks like it will be hard to find a used copy in China...

I have to confess, I was very close of buying a white K-30 but I was afraid it would become dirty quickly, what is your experience?
That's why I bought the blue one

up to now no problem.
it is a very smooth surface that does not really catch any dirt
and also i have had it out in the rain which washes it clean again
hehe, gotta love WR Pentax :-)

about used stuff in Japan: lenses is no problem, my 50mm 1.7 was very cheap.
but i think japanese people are into high quality a lot, so the K1000 which is a simple and "cheap" tool is actually harder to find than a Hasselblad or Leica etc...

Wow! That's less than 780.00 US. Wish I could find that deal.

Got my K-30 recently - great camera. It all started with the K-01, which I purchased first because it was a steal at the fire sale price (otherwise, never would have ventured into Pentax territory). Now I'm getting some lenses. And this is scary for me, because I happen to be very much an Oly guy (E-5, E-M5, etc., and many great lenses). But you know what? I'm enjoying them all. I also like Oly and Pentax from a philosophical standpoint - very innovative companies. Two clever smaller companies doing battle with the Canikon machine. Gotta love the underdogs. And both produce cameras with great IQ.

I have had my blue K-30 for a few weeks now. It is my first DSLR, and I love it. I was given a K-1000 thirty plus years ago, progressed to an ME Super and finally was in a position to go digital. Glad I can use all of my old lenses, but can anyone tell me if I can use my old Vivitar flas that I bought for my ME Super?

I would say around 1-2k users, though the number of posts about the K-30, as well as the number of photos taken with it, are much lower than say for the K-r, which is weird!

IMO, Kx was a breakthrough camera for Pentax, big boom in new users.
Kr was so-so as its marginal improvement did not give it an advantage over canikon entry cameras (branding considered )
K30 is a sad one. I think it could be that good one that Kx was, but no-marketing, Ricoh takeover confusion, and lack of a bombastic higher end camera led to disintrest in Pentax for newbies.
I've been told that Kx was also featured in trendy young ppl magazines, which made it prominent, but this was not followed up for the later models.

Add me to the list of users K-30! ;-)
I bought black body with 18-55 in Moscow . I was afraid that the color of his pictures will be very different from the color of K-10. I am satisfied that it is not! It gives a slightly different color, but this is the color of Pentax!
I checked it with my favorite lenses - 43LIM, FA 100 MACRO and FA 24-90 - AF fast and accurate. Focusing with LW is simply wonderful, especially for macro!
