One more K30 over here, bought from Amazon.de with 18-55 and 55-300 kit lenses. Next lenses are the Tamron 90 f2.8 macro ASAP.

According to B&H, only a couple of pre-orders were shipped out to PF members. I hope the K-30 is in fact more popular than that! Post here if you've got one

Hi

Just one little question. I am buying the K30 in about two weeks. I don't want the black one. I am in doubt between the white one and the blue one. Which one looks better in real? I can't find it anywhere to compare... Is the blue one too blue? It looks like it as it seems to be metalic blue..
I have the white and it really looks nice. I don't think you can go wrong w/either color IMO.

Picking up my Black K-30 tonight!

Picking mine up tonight! Can't wait to try it out. No work tomorrow, so I have all day to play! I bought the kit with 18-55 and 50-200, but will mostly likely get the 35-135 WR this week. I have several legacy lenses that I want to try as well. Several AF Pentax lenses from my Z-1 and some AF Tamron

My white K-30 came in yesterday from Amazon. Am moving up from a K-01, if moving up is the right expression.

First impressions -- K-30 has much better ergonomics, control placements, etc. K-01 has the virtue of simplicity, with fewer controls. Love the K-30 optical viewfinder. But also like my K-01 screen with a Hoodman loupe taped on it. K-30 has much faster autofocus. K-01 is actually more stylish; K-30 design is a little over the top. Fit and finish on both cameras is just excellent.

Picture quality from both seems exactly the same. Am shocked that Pentax is selling both the K-30 and K-01 at such steep discounts off original retail. Whatever, it works for me. And, like every other Pentax owner, am so happy that ALL our lenses fit, on every camera!

Before doing the above make sure your battery is fully charged. You DO NOT want to run out of battery power during the update.

Thanks Fabio ... just upgraded to v1.04 ... on my Acer netbook, had to right-click on the .EXE file and then 'Run As Administrator', and then it unpacked the .BIN file.

Thanks Tako ... re-charged the battery first... good tip.

I bought mine with 18-135 lens for $799 - a great deal from a local shop! This is a return to a DSLR for me after several years of compact cameras and I was torn between mirrorless ( Fuji XE-1 ) and the K30. So I saved a good deal of money and got a very good zoom range, and I am happy with the results so far.

This forum has been very useful, and it is refreshingly devoid of arguments and brand criticism. I think I will enjoy being a Pentax owner for years to come.

The camera will refuse to implement the update if the battery isn't at full on the meter.

That's good to know, I wasn't aware of that feature.

My wife got one, to replace her K-5. Much faster, and accurate, AF, faster processor, and slightly upgraded sensor. Yeah, the K-5 and the K-30 are almost as expensive now. The K-30 only faults, as I see it, is smaller battery capacity, and noisier shutter - not the best candid camera!
