Strange, when I import the photos to lightroom, all the photos start out having black borders on both of the long edges. Not sure what is up with that. then as I go through them in lightroom they start magically disappearing. Is this normal?
Excellent pick with the white! I had a white K-x, and If Pentax had ever released a white K-5, I probably would have bought it. So the white K-30 was a no-brainer.

I've noticed the same thing you described with the black borders. I use Adobe Bridge, and when the photos first show up they have back borders above and below. But then it goes through and removes them all without me doing anything.

Adam, I'm sure there are less K-30 owners here than there should be. I really love mine despite it's limitations. I am buying new lenses for it. A sure sign of satisfaction. Not a toy to me...but a weapon!

Bought one yesterday from Ted's (Australia) for $765 body only! And since I will be going overseas soon, I will be able to claim my 10% gst back so the camera will end up costing approx $690.

I am upgrading from K-10 so everything seems much snappier, not to mention it is lighter and smaller than K-10. I do miss the two-wheel control on K-10 but don't really miss the top LCD.

I haven't really taken that many pictures yet since by the time I got home it was pretty late but I will definitely be giving it a workout during my overseas trip!!

I've been using my K-30 with the 18-135 WR and love the combo. I feel like I'm pretty much ready for anything on a moment's notice. So far the performance is a nice step up from my previous K-r. I was disappointed with the K-r focus problems and elected to wait it out for a replacement model rather than jump ship to another platform. I'm happy I did that. I already had a DAL 55-300, DA15 and DA40. So now I have a very nice collection of lenses and a great camera. Next I just have to get off my butt and start shooting.

K-30/18-55 scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.
I've been camera-less for three whole weeks (sold K20d first to help fund the K-30), so I'm stoked!

It means that you are the 1-percent of photographers. And by selfishly hording two K-30's, you have denied a member of the 99-percent of photographers their K-30.

Sorry, I meant K30 only got one mode dial. K10D has 2 dials, one mode dial and one for adjusting metering.
