Yes, it is Doc. What the Japanese call Crystal (for these cameras) is glossy, and Silky is matte. Even is English I keep calling mine Silky orange .
Thanks. I got confused by the Japanese way of referring to matte so just wanted to double check. Enjoy your new camera!

It seems funny that the title of this is "How many K-30 owners do we have?" and over half are comments about the K-5, price drops before buying, etc. and not to the point ("How many K-30 owners do we have?"). Seems like so many of these threads start on a topic, then gravitate all over the place and quickly get off topic. Just an editorial comment. I have ordered mine with the 18-135MM lens and it is on it's way from back east, so I own one but haven't used it yet.

A simple poll would've been a preferential way of getting the answers without all the off topic replies.

I'm In

I ordered a K30 from Adorama a couple days before they actually got in their shipment. I have my K30 and so far I'm LOVING it. I also have a K5, and in the past have owned the K10D, K20D, K-m, K-x, K-r. I like to sell and buy the next model when I can, so I have a sense of Pentax's recent DSLRs. The K30 is a lovely camera when you want most of what the K5 gives, but you need just a little more space and weight advantage. I took pictures of the events surrounding my daughter's wedding last weekend and found the K30 a very "companionable" camera.

Thanks!! They only had this kit available in black, but that is the color I had settled on anyway. I love some of the other colors, but feel I might personally get tired of them after a while.

I bought a blue K-30(body only) from Adorama. I intended to use it as a back up for my K-5. I've only taken it out to shoot once and it was a joy to use. I really like the shape and feel of this camera and the auto-focus seems "better" (subjective). I bet it will probably get used as much as the K-5.

My black K-30 came in the office today. Can't wait to go home to try it out! This will be a great upgrade to my already superb K-x!
