Mine came last Saturday and we took off for the north shore of Lake Superior the next day to try it out a few days. The pics are amazing. Just got home so looking forward to downloading the pics to the computer. I did look at them on the iPad every night and was doing a lot of oohs and aaahhs!!

Got mine yesterday (7/27), opted for the black body only. Already have 3 DA limiteds and 2 DA*'s so no lenses needed atm. So far really liking it.

Serial Number register for K-30 is available now

It seems funny that the title of this is "How many K-30 owners do we have?" and over half are comments about the K-5, price drops before buying, etc. and not to the point ("How many K-30 owners do we have?"). Seems like so many of these threads start on a topic, then gravitate all over the place and quickly get off topic. Just an editorial comment. I have ordered mine with the 18-135MM lens and it is on it's way from back east, so I own one but haven't used it yet.
OK, if everyone will go to :
Pentax K-30 Serial Numbers - Pentax Serial Number Database - PentaxForums.com
and register their new K-30 , we could see easily how many owners we have on this forum.
Mine black picked up yesterday is there as NUMERO UNO!

Black with 18-135... Love it so far.. (exception being the inability to take bracketed shots using the IR remote!) Come on Pentax! What were you thinking!?
I thought the specs said it can use IR remote on bracketing. I haven't tried it yet with my K-30. But it will be a big disappointment if it cannot, it was one of the reasons I moved up from a K-x.

exposure bracketing with remote control

I have K-x, and I'm still struggling between K5 and K30...but by reading K5 and K30 user manuals, I think K5 can do Exposure Bracketing with either self-timer or remote control. K30 doesn't have that option.

I see it now on my K-30. The bracketing and remote are separate drive modes that we cannot combine. Much like my old K-x. Pentax, what are you doing? Mid level camera and doesn't have this fine grain control? If I could hack a firmware, I'll take matters to my own hands. LOL!

I was basing the specs on the 2nd page preview of the K-30 on DPReview site. It says:

QuoteQuote:
Auto Bracketing (3 frames, standard, timer, remote)
I think the term "remote" is far from a "cable release". It's either DPReview's article needs better proofreading or Pentax released wrong information. I would be happy even if we could use the timer for bracketing to avoid the shake when pressing the shutter button.

Yeah, that's pretty lame. Also no bracketing + continuous.

One solution to the remote+bracketing problem would be to use an IR-to-cablerelease device, like this.

Got my black K-30/18-135 last night! Haven't had as much chance to play as I would like but I love the ergonomics. The grip is awesome! I find my finger is constantly pressing the AE button, thinking it's the "chimping" button! Got to retrain the fingers, I guess! Looking forward to giving this baby a good workout this weekend.

Just gotta raise a bit more $$$... by the time I get there, maybe it will have dropped from $850 to $750... *hopes*

Same here! I also keep turning on Live View when I want the flash, and moving the front dial when I want to turn the camera on or off! Interesting to see the muscle memory from my K-x is so entrained.

Just received a white k30 today! My colleague also called it a "storm trooper" camera. I like it though. it's LIGHT! and small, and perfect for my hands, like the kx. I hate big bulky cameras. It does feel a little "plastic" though. But it's okay. The shutter also seems a bit louder than the kx. I am not sure though. So far so good. still have a lot of learning to do on this. But , I am glad for the most part that it looks, and feels, and the menu at least to me is similar to the kx and that was important to me.

Strange, when I import the photos to lightroom, all the photos start out having black borders on both of the long edges. Not sure what is up with that. then as I go through them in lightroom they start magically disappearing. Is this normal?

Anyway here is one of my first shots with the k30. f2.4, 35mm, ISO 6400 (impressive), 1/60
edit: the picture didn't seem to show up in my post, so here is a link to it: http://i.imgur.com/XYwEV.jpg
