K30 user review.

got the blue version K30.

1. K-5 build is better. K30 has better overall grip feel. also color is eye-catching for the K30.
2. K30 seems like the images are sharper compared to K-5,
3. AF is Faster. significantly high keeper rates compared to K-5.
4. focus peaking is a huge huge plus
5. shutter is more damp on the K-5, although K30 is not far behind.

it's a tough choice between the two cameras. one is certainly higher-end body and the other is better at operations. both cameras hold value in my opinion.

Is the focusing of the K30 really that much better? I have never had any problem with the focus accuracy of the K5.
And what do you mean by sharper? More resolution or more sharpening at default setting?

In any case it is very kind of you that you share your impressions with us! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for your thoughts on the two. I'll go ahead and ask, please explain what you mean by "shutter is more damp on the K-5, although K30 is not far behind.", thanks.

I have the k5 and have had the k30 for a week now and I can concur that the focus accuracy is more consistent with the k30 than the k5. I agree with almost everything Pentaxor has said but I cannot be certain about the whether the images are sharper or not.

I've seen side-by-side comparisons of K01 and K5 shots that likewise favour the newer model. So if you're motivated to go look them up, this would presumably give a fair indication of the relative sharpness of K5 vs K30 images.

I got the camera Pentax K-30 at July 9, 2012. Here are some first impressions.
It looks okay. Unusually long front stands a flash, but tolerable. Grip with his right hand was normal. The left hand is also asked to give her the opportunity to take something, but alas. The camera a little less than my Pentax K20D. This is not so important, because this Pentax K-30 and Pentax K20D the camera's ergonomics suit me completely.
For me awkward remove flash cards from camera Pentax K-30.
In the dark room works well ISO 1600 and 3200, but the rest ISO I don't like. First shots without support. Focus floating and does not give an exact stable result of hitting the target.

I forgot to say that the battery K-30 is weak. On the K20D was more durable.

Pentax K-30 for $ 923 with taxes and delivery better than my Penta K20D, which four years ago cost about $ 1460.

P.S.
Please see my theme
Pentax K-30. First shots.

Смотрите мои первые фото по ссылке выше.

P.P.S.
After several days of using the camera K-30, I came to the conclusion that the Pentax is still too early to have a full frame. Pentax is not ready for FF.

После нескольких дней использования камеры K-30 я пришел к выводу, что Пентаксу еще рано иметь полный кадр. Пентакс к нему не готов.

more sharpening. I'm not sure if this is due to better focusing, but it seems like the raw images are tweaked. although I wouldn't pay much attention to it. what is important, is I'm getting more keepers now than ever before.

I'd say much faster and more accurate. manual focusing is a breeze now because of focus peaking. I don't think that I would need to change the stock focusing screen nor would need a magnifier anymore.

sorry, I meant K5 is more quiet. the K30 is not like the K5/K7 shutter. but it is not noisy either. I even categorize it quiet or non-distracting.

that is one of the first things that I noticed is the flash is somehow protruding in the front and a bit high. the design made it look like a lamborghini or a robot toy. but atleast it's much better than the K-01. I felt weird handling the K-01. the K30 feels more like a dslr camera.

Maybe not the right place to ask, but it's true that on the pentax K-5 (wich I think is the same on the K-30) the center focus point (that little square) that you see in the viewfinder is smaller than real focus point, and this leads to some sort of the user to think that is not focusing accurate ?? I read this on pentaxeros (spanish forum)

Thanks.
