K-30 Video, Using SMC m 50mm f1.4 Manual Lens II

I don't know if this (very uncreative) video deserves a thread of its own or not, but I couldn't find a completely relevant existing thread to which to add it. For me, it is the lens that makes this video worth watching. I hope Pentax will eventually (be able to) add focus peaking capabilities during live video capture.

Be sure to watch it in 1080p at full-screen size to see how well it achieves focus (clicking the red title bar might be the best viewing method):

For those of you who might want more information on the lens, here is PentaxForum's lens database entry on it: SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 Reviews - M Prime Lenses.

You can change the aperture too during video capture by veering the aperture ring (... but only in 1/3 or half steps).

i believe they were testing/playing the K30 with 50 mm lens. Not really a video of sorts for watching.

I know.

My point in posting it is simply to show how well that old manual lens works with the K-30 in video mode (as well as in still-image mode). There are one or two "beginners" who have recently expressed an interest in using manual lenses with the K-30. There are even one or two people who seem to scoff at the idea of using such "ancient technology" with modern DSLRs. This video is for them also.

I've thoroughly impressed with the results from my K-5 using an SMC-A 50/1.4 lens.

I would love to find that lens collecting dust in some second-hand store out here on the prairie, with a price tag of $5.00 on it.

It's awesome. I bought mine on eBay and it looks as advertised that it received a professional cleaning. The M50/1.4 hasn't come out of the bag since the A50 went on. It's just so convenient to work with the A setting.

In movie mode do you have control over the iso, shutter speed and everything with the manual lense? With the k-01 it seems you don't...
