Does the K-30 have a mirror lock-up function? The manual doesn’t mention it, so I am guessing K-30 lacks the mirror lock-up. However, PentaxForums’ Pentax DSLR Comparison (Pentax Cameras | Pentax K-5 vs. Pentax K-30 vs. Pentax K-01 - Pentax DSLR Comparison - PentaxForums.com) shows that the K-30 has the mirror lock-up function. On the other hand, B&H shows that K-30 does not have mirror lock-up function (Pentax K-30 Digital Camera (Body Only) (Black) 15613 B&H Photo). Googling it does not give a definite answer on the mirror lock-up function.


Hence, I am asking here. Does it have the mirror lock-up or not?

Most consumer-oriented Pentax cameras implement mirror lockup via the 2-second timer; the K-30 is no exception.

I don't have one, but if its anything like the K-r, it doesn't have a feature called mirror lock-up, but it does automatically do it when using the 2 second timer. If you have the K-30, just try it and listen to the sound, you should hear the mirror going up, and then later the shutter being released, and the mirror flipping back down afterwards.

Thank guys, so this is the same as with the K-x. I did not check the K-r manual, but as far as I remember, the K-x manual did use the "mirror lock-up" keyword when referring to it in conjunction with a 2s self-timer. Strangely the K-30 manual does not mention it. Anyway, good to know that it is still there. Some would say that it is not a proper mirror lock-up function, but good enough for me.
