K30 with 18-55 + WG-1 = $ 899.00

I just saw this in Costco coupon book. Great price!
Another good thing is Pentax camera starts to show in more big stores now! It is the 1st time I see pentax camera in Costco, although it is still on line store. I am not sure if it is available in local stores.
I will grab one if I don't have a K-5.

Got my flier today too. This is a heck of a deal with a bonus WG-1. I wonder what version is the 18-55. DAL or WR? Anyone got information?

The 18-55 will most likely be a L which is plastic mount, while with the 18-135 like shown in the black K-30 is going to be WR, but I doubt they'll sell that kit for 899 with free Optio WG-1

I got it also. This is part of an "online-only" costco.com summers offer mailing I received.
In other words, the K-30 isn't going to be in Costco stores.

This is a heck of a deal if you care for the WG-1 compact.

I don't, as it doesn't take AA batteries. I'm keeping my 6-year old 6MP Nikon coolpix L1 compact, which runs great on 2 eneloops.
If I hadn't bought the K-30 from B&H already, I would buy this Costco kit and sell the WG-1.

I've got a WG-1 for adventure outings when I don't dare bring a SLR. I've actually become rather fond of it, despite the fact that there's zero control over actual aperture and shutter speed. But the battery life for the Li batteries is great, and they're cheap to get a couple spares. In particular, though, I've been impressed with the camera's macro mode.

Here's a sample.

Nice under water photo!

I have a small Kodak underwater video camera and found it very useful at beach and water park. And I am thinking getting a WG-2 or -1. But I have a k10d and k-5, and a nex5, really can not find any excuse to buy a K30 now.
Maybe sell the K-5? No... i love it. Get rid of K10D? no ... I love it.....

Maybe buy a bigger cabinet.

Just made my order through Costco. This is what you get for US$899 + tax:

K-30 DLSR What’s Included:

Pentax K-30 Weather-Sealed DSLR Camera Body
18-55mm Weather-Resistant Lens
Pentax Sling Bag
8GB SDHC Memory Card
Li-Ion Battery
Battery Charger Kit
USB Cable
Strap
Hotshoe Cover
Eyecup
Body Mount Cover
Finder Cap
Focusing Screen
Software CD-ROM
Bonus Item
Pentax WG-1 Waterproof Digital Camera***

I give Pentax USA much credit for putting such a competitively price package at a big box store. I hope it's AF lives up to all the hype. Hopefully it'll hold me over long enough until I can get a D800 around Christmas.

I really, truly, sincerely hope I'm wrong -- for everyone's sake --, but Costco may have made a mistake in claiming that the 18-55 kit lens in their deal is WR.

Is anyone in a position to verify this, one way or the other?

Also, can one get an official Pentax warranty when buying through Costco? That store is not listed on Pentax's web site.

I also hope the advertised lens is not a mistake, but looking at the picture that's on Costco's site, the lens shown is the non-WR version. It could just be a stock photo, but my gut tells me the description is the one that's wrong. :-(

As for warranty, this is what it says under the Shipping and Terms tab:

Manufacturer's warranty service is available on all electronics products. See manufacturer's warranty for specific coverage terms.

Again, sounds like some generic verbiage, but I'm fairly sure Costco works with each manufacturer when bringing out bundles like this. My understanding is that sometimes, manufacturers make "special editions" of their merchandise to be sold specifically at Costco. So if that's true here, Pentax and Costco should be in step with each other in offering this.
