Chasseur D'images tests K30 :0) Scores 5/5

I've cut and pasted several comments from DPR, sneaky me ;-)

The major plusses were the improved jpeg engine and the faster AF (though they tested it with the 18-55 DAL lens, it apparently delivered better results during long bursts)

(Imagine if they had tested with the zippier 18-135) :-)

The AF test is very good too, 17 shot in focus, 2 OOF (when the K5 made 14 IF, 2 OOF) [NIce improvement]
Final score : 5/5
(1) : this should be related to the D3200 test, the Nikon was rated at 3/5, because of a crappy jpg engine.

Yes they do like the K 30.
Their test summary reads:
"The K30 is a real revolution. This 'general public' reflex has the specifications of a pro.
One would fear that certain key options would have been sacrificed due to budget restrictions, but this isn't the case. Everything meets the mark.
Sure the sensor is 'only' 16Mpix, but it is a good one. Better to have 16 good mpixs than 24 bad"
Re the autofocus:
The AF is quick and to our mind accurate even if we only used the 18-55mm lens.
Operation noise: The general trend is for DSLRs to make less noise. The K30 tends to be a little noisy. (leaves more detail imo)
The noise issue is the only real negative report.
The ' Chasseur d'images' (The image hunter) is a French photo mag which has been going for as long as I can remember.
In the same edition they also tested the Optio WG2 GPS and other 'off road' cameras.
The Optio gets the highest marks as does the Sony DSC TX20;-)

Good to know, I think they panned the K-01 (or it might have been the other French resource), but their remarks as translated by you seems to be overwhelming in favor of the k-30.

Can you elaborate on the D3200 jpeg engine? Surprising to hear..

Like I said in OP, I cut and pasted these bits from comments at dpreview (to give a quick summary of the article at CDI) so these aren't my comments for the most part except for a few minor little additions here and there.
