Very nice overview. I agree that the 18-135 looks to be the only bundled grouping that is a good deal at Maximum Assured Pricing. However, Amazon has just discounted the K-30 + 18-55 bundle so its only $13 more than the body alone. I think that makes it a very attractive option personally.

Glad you liked it. I'm warming to Pentax USAs marketing people. Ken Curry and Amber Renard from the Atlanta K-30 Tour stop were good people. I also want to thank Pentax USA, again in this thread, for adjusting their Tour and adding Atlanta after someone (cough-cough Me) pointed out the big hole in the South. Ken was selling the camera, for sure, but he also said "I don't know, I'll have to find out" to several questions. That answer gets high marks from me - particularly from someone in Sales/marketing. Glad I went tonight.

Luckily in my country some shops sell pentax K-30 with 18-55mm WR + 50-200 WR. But from what I bought next:

Pentax M 50mm f/1.4
Carl Zeiss Sonar 200mm f/2.8 (M42 mount)
Mayer Orestor 135mm f/2.8 (M42 mount)

I especially like the Pentax M 50 and the Sonar, since they give me the best results. All of these 3 lenses together and the M42 converter cost me lest than $600, only drawback is manual focus and the weight of Sonar.

I got it with the same combo of 18-55mm WR + 50-200 WR ... no regrets after running around the fresh snow that came down yesterday

I love my new camera

I finally taken the plunge and went to buy the pentax k30 twin lens kit and there was none left in stock, i had a shop around and couldn't find any. I ended up getting the standard single lens kit and a 55-300mm lens. I don't regret this for a minuite but it is defiantly the more expensive option

Well, once you receive the gear you might find that you made the right decision The non-DA L 55-300mm has a hood, metal mount, distance scale, and most importantly, quick shift focus, which lets you manually make adjustments to the focus at any time w/o changing any camera settings.

its a DA 18-55

I should have said but the kit lens was a DA 18-55 WR and not a DA L 18-55, I am very pleased with both my lenses and i hope they will serve me well in the future

smc 50mm f1.4 auto focus

I just purchased a usesd 50mm f1.4 lens for my K30. Are there any special setting I need to make to my camera to get the best use from this lens? Thanks

Not if it's autofocus. f2.0 to f8.0 will likely give best results.

Hi everyone. I have just bought k30. I like all options and features of the camera. But my complaint goes towards the 18-55 lens. I just think that images produced are a bit blurry. I think it is the lens. Which lens on budget would give me sharpest image?

Hi ongaku,
blurry images often come from long exposure times. With your lens try to keep the shutter speed at least at 1/60 s or faster and turn shake reduction (SR) on. Then try to hold the camera steady while taking the shot.
Another possibility could be, that your subject was not in focus. When pressing the shutter release/trigger only half your camera will focus. It will display a red sign on the part of viewfinder where it focussed on. That point should be on your subject.
When you shoot in dark areas you will get noise in the image coming from high ISO/sensitivity settings. For this a flash or a lens with a faster/wider maximum aperture can help.
If you post an example of what you got , we could narrow it down.

Actually I bought a 35/2.4 lens and it is sharp enough for me. I think my kit lens is a bit front focusing but I don't use it much. Really like fast lens now
