That bodes well for this becoming a very cheap way to get a decently featured DSLR, and for getting people into Pentax.

Yes, that's down about $50 off Maximum Assured Pricing. If you don't have the 18-135 its the best way to get one IMHO.

One reason why this could be happening is because Amazon is now adding tax for many States, some other Pentax retailers are still selling it without tax. If Amazon doesn't discount, it will sell less.

Discount is not only on Amazon. Went down to "Sight and Sound", an indepentant B&M store here. They are an auth Pentax dealer but did not have the K-30 in stock. They checked with Pentax Canada for availability and price for the body only. The price $799. Needlless to say I ordered one.

What is "free" is the WG-1
If this becomes a hit with other consumers then prices of used and old legacy lenses will shoot up..including old accessories.
It would be harder to buy things cheap at eBay now. It is already hard buying M-42 takumar lenses since people have been buying them for their Canon or 4/3 cameras..$%#**&!

I think people are confusing two different K30 deals.

Amazon, the subject of this thread, has discounted the K30+DAL18-55 lens.

Costco, which is featured in 3 other threads, is selling a K30+18-55WR+bag+SD card+WG1 for $899.

Two entirely different deals.

I was on the fence with this and deciding weather to click the "add to cart" button or not- when I refreshed the page and saw $828, I stopped and thought, "wasn't it just $819". Took a second for my brain to process what had just happened.

I think I'm going to hold off on the K-30 for just a little bit more... hopefully by next month we'll see the (blue) body around $750- that is when I'll strike without hesitation.

I was wondering if I should wait as well.. if its already hitting low $800 likely will soon see it in the $700.. but I just couldn't stand it! lol
