I never got deeper into this since I asked about it. How are my settings supposed to be - or, *does* it work? I simply can't seem to get it to work.

I played around a lot with linking AE and AF point on my K100D and it hardly made any difference in real-world shots so I haven't tried it on my K-30. There was some talk years ago that it helped with flash shots that picked up reflections but I never had a problem with that anyway.
